KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – No. 4/4 Tennessee and its scorching-hot bats return home to begin a stretch of five-straight games at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Tuesday night when it hosts Alabama A&M at 6 p.m. The Vols are coming off a series win at Auburn in which they blasted 14 home runs, setting a program record for the most in an SEC weekend series.

SERIES HISTORY

Overall: Tennessee leads, 4-0
in Knoxville: 4-0
in Huntsville: 0-0
at Neutral Sites: 0-0
Last Meeting: W, 23-1 in 7 Inn. (Feb. 22, 2023 in Knoxville)

In two meetings last season, UT posted a pair of run-rule victories and outscored Alabama A&M, 33-1.

NOTABLE

Midweek Dominance Under Vitello
Tennessee has been nearly automatic in midweek games under head coach Tony Vitello, posting a 72-10 record during his tenure, including a 62-6 record since the start of the 2019 season. The Vols are a perfect 8-0 in midweek contests this season with four of those wins coming by 10 or more runs.

Burke Breaks Home Run Record, But Chase is Still On
Junior slugger Blake Burke broke Luc Lipcius' career home run record with a solo blast in Saturday's win at Auburn, giving him 41 for his career. However, the race to be the Vols' all-time home run leader by season's end is still very much on as Chrisitan Moore sits just one long ball behind Burke after hitting three in last weekend's series, giving him a team-leading 13 on the season and 40 for his career.

Grand Slams Galore
The Big Orange blasted two more grand slams last weekend to increase their season total to nine through just 32 games, which is a new single-season program record, surpassing the previous mark of seven set in 1998. Eight different players have combined to hit the nine grand slams, with Cal Stark the only Vol to have two after blasting his second in Sunday's run-rule victory against Auburn.

Florida is in a freefall. Gators have lost 4 straight and were crushed tonight at rival. South Carolina comes to town this weekend after regaining some momentum tonight. One of these teams will be in desperate condition on Sunday night at the conference halfway point.

Missouri loss to a bad SIUE proves their sweep over Florida says more about the Gators than it does Mizzou.

LSU beat an "OK" McNeese team quite decisively. They are getting ready to jump on bus for Knoxville.

Kentucky lost to a very good Samford team on the road that will be a TOUGH 2 or 3 seed in regionals.

Georgia has had a good few days. They run ruled a tough in-state foe.

Ranked teams losing tonight.

#2 Clemson lost to solid USC Upstate 9-5. The Spartans should view for a regional spot.
#7 Duke lost to visiting William & Mary 4-2. The Tribe is a solid team but still are #108 RPI

Anyone warming up to Coach Caldwell? I caught a replay of the presser and have read a few articles about her. She has an incredibly high emotional intelligence and projects confidence but with self awareness and humility. Granted I know little about women’s college basketball, but I think she has the “it factor” and will be tremendously successful. I guess the proof will be in the pudding but Danny White sure has a great track record of finding diamonds in the rough. I think he’s found another one!

I'm pretty impressed so far. I was neutral on the hire, but so far, she seems absolutely unimpressed and unphased by the job and I mean that as a positive and a compliment.

That's the type of person that can come in and respect the history, but put their own stamp on things without being consumed by it.

Just researching her a little and watching a few of her media things, she will fit in very well with Heupel, Barnes, Weekly, Vitello, etc. All of them would much rather be coaching and with their players than anything else they do, and that's the vibe she gives off.

Here's hoping she's wildly successful.

Apparently they have not ticketed for years and have never heard of any one being ticketed. But I got a ticket 2 Sunday's ago and the following week there were cop cars the the entrance and you could not get in without a permit.

They drive me INSANE doing stuff like that.

Its like they have one guy over there who's only job is to think up ways to annoy people coming to games.

My wife can’t stand to hear Caitlin’s endless chatter. She really needs to use less words. Who was the female commentator last weekend (well at least on Fri and Sat). I thought she was terrific.
I like Caitlin. Tell your wife she be jelli
