SERIES HISTORY

Overall: Tennessee leads, 3-0
in Knoxville: 3-0
in Louisville: 0-0
at Neutral Sites: 0-0
Last Meeting: W, 19-1 (April 25, 2023 in Knoxville)

UT has outscored Bellarmine 39-9 in its three prior meetings.

NOTABLE

Home and Midweek Success
The Vols enter Tuesday's contest with a 25-2 record at Lindsey Nelson Stadium this season. Their 25 home victories are tied for the most in the country while their .926 winning percentage on Rocky Top this year is good for 13th nationally. UT is also unbeaten in midweek games this season with a spotless 9-0 record. Five of those victories have come by 10 or more runs and Tennessee has outscored its nine midweek opponents by a 101-19 margin.

Home Run Race Heating Up
Entering play this week, Blake Burke and Christian Moore are tied atop the Tennessee record book with 42 career home runs apiece after Burke hit his 12th of the year on Sunday against LSU while Moore went deep twice for his team-leading 14th and 15th round trippers this season in the 8-4 victory over the Tigers. Burke and Moore have both now surpassed the previous record holder, Luc Lipcius, who hit 40 from 2017-22.

Attendance Records Continue to Fall
UT has set a handful attendance records already this season, thanks in large part to the increased capacity of Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Vols have broken the previous single-game attendance record of 5,086 (5/28/95 vs. Oklahoma State) 14 times already this year, including its top three crowds in program history last weekend vs. LSU (5,901, 6,155 and 6,092).

The Vols also broke their three-game series attendance record for the fifth time during its weekend series sweep over the Tigers with 18,148 fans having attended the games, besting the previous mark of 16,751 during the Ole Miss series (March 22-24).

The Big Orange are on pace to shatter their single-season attendance record this year as they are averaging 5,123 fans per game, which ranks 10th nationally.

Single Game Record: April 14 vs. LSU (6,155)

Sometimes, before the season starts, one can look at the schedule and say, “why are we playing these weak midweek games?” I did.

Now, with NIL and the portal, you gotta have some games that the young guys can gain experience. We aren’t just trying to win games, I think yer trying to hold on to the ones you have and everyone wants to compete or they wouldn’t be here. Dog eat dog and all is one way. I think CTV is trying to give kids an opportunity to see what it can be and he’s using the midweeks looking to the future.

What do y’all think?

They are rated below Iona. That’s a lot of suck…

I have said if you are an elite team you have to schedule games that allow your young guys to play like last week and this week. Put them in the middle of the SEC games and give your starters a break and young guys a chance to pitch and hit and play the field. Hurts a little in RPI but good for overall team.

  • Auburn’s opponent’s batting average is .339 in conference games. Kentucky’s is .196.
  • Arkansas has fanned 168 batters. The next most is Georgia and Texas A&M at 149.
  • Mississippi State leads the SEC in fielding at .986. The worst is Ole Miss at .960.
  • Blake Burke leads the SEC in batting at .441. Charlie Condon is next at .414. UGa teammate Corey Collins is third at .400.

  • Evan Aschenbeck leads the SEC in ERA at 1.06. Griffin Herring is next at 1.15. Among starters, Hagen Smith leads at 1.20. Ty Good is at 2.04 and Khal Stephen is at 2.45.
  • Opponents are batting just .155 versus Hagen Smith. The next lowest is Aschenbeck at .180.

Some interesting stuff here..... Cats lead in batting average with Vols second. Vols lead in home runs with Cats second.

Should be a great matchup this weekend. Not to look past Bellarmine...but I'm looking past Bellarmine.

I think you accomplish that without scheduling Bellarmine and Alabama State. Just about any of the SoCon schools would be better.

I just stopped here for a moment of peace, and to get out of the Lady Vols tone deaf echo chamber of disloyalty, doom, and denunciation.

😌Ahhhhh... thank you for this pastoral cyber-respite.

🐦🍀🌻🏞️ Upon entering the Baseball Forum, one should hear the trill and chirrup of songbirds, and the murmur of a gentle brook. (Between raucous dongs, of course!)

Interesting, however it appears D1's observations only includes played thru the 14th not the 15th. We hit HRs 39-41 Sunday and BA is .313. Too lazy to look up the rest. But your point is well taken, it will be a great match-up
