The play where Pruitt won me over

Pruitt won me over this year when he dropped the calmer, gentler sideline Pruitt and went back to GFY Pruitt that snatched face masks and jerseys while cussing out the zebras. I honestly think Fulmer and Co. tried to polish his demeanor over the past summer and it just didn't work. Once Pruitt started chewing a$$es and demanding effort, the turnaround began. Some say a weaker back half helped, but we were still a 2-10 team before the Alabama game. Fire and brimstone brought out the senior leadership and that carried throughout the team.

I think it quickly became obvious that Pruitt totally HATES to lose.

It seems to me that he'll try most anything to bring home the WIN.

That's the kind of Head Coach I want leading my beloved Vols.

I want to get back to where we always EXPECT to get the WIN every game we play.

I believe that Pruitt wants that too.

...was in the West Virginia game. We had the ball at first and goal, then second and goal, then third and goal, then fourth and goal. We were trailing 10-0, and the offense turned to jog off the field, sure that Pruitt would settle for the field goal. When he saw them coming off the field, he looked at them in disbelief and waived them back into the game, as if to say, "What are you guys doing, we came here today to score touchdowns."

“I believe you have to go win the game. To win the game, you’ve got to be aggressive. You’ve got to be an aggressive play caller. You’ve got to play aggressive. I’m not one of these guys that sits back and waits on it. If you see something that you want, you try to go get it. I think that’s the way a good football team needs to play.”-Jeremy Pruitt

This was the moment Jeremy Pruitt won me over. Even when he makes a move like this and we fail, I will remember that play.

A bone headed move won you over?

I liked the plays that resulted in success but did not care for the ones leading to failure. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't call going for a TD on fourth and one from the one yard line a bone headed move, but then I'm not the one who goes by #pruittnuthugger. That would be you.

I love how Pruitt wants to build a physically tough football team that will always go for it on 4th and 1. When in short yardage situations, Pruitt doesn't care that the other team expects a run, because he expects his players to win their matchups no matter what. I'm not sure it's about being aggressive as it is about building a team culture that leans on their physicality.

For example, I love how the commentators during the bowl game were balking at the thought that Pruitt was actually going to go for it on 4th and 1 to run out the clock and win the game. When Pruitt then walked his offense on the field, the commentators tried to talk it off as an attempt to try and lure Indiana to jump offside. Unfortunatley we Kennedy was called for moving the ball illegally, but you could tell by Pruitt's reaction that he was mad we were forfeiting the chance to go for it. Pruitt doesn't play by the traditional rules. He doesn't rely on the chart as much as he does off of his team's mentality. That is what he cares about and that is why I like him!
Have you seen our 4th down conversion rate??

With the score 10-0 in the first half you need points. You need to get the game to 1 score and after 3 tries kick the freeking field goal.

Oh and @Orangeslice13 is paying for that tag line. $5 per day.

There was something about the Bama game this year where a switch flipped for me. I’ve never doubted Coach Pruitt wanted to win at all cost, but there was a real fire in him that night that I don’t feel like I had seen before. That might sound crazy, maybe it is, but to me that night I thought he was 100% a Vol. That game he didn’t lose as just a coach, I thought he lost and equally felt our frustration and pride as the Tennessee Head Football Coach.

For me it was the Alabama game last season when he told Darrell Taylor: "Sweep the Tua Leg!" lol

No seriously, it was the candid post-game interviews when he told the truth even when it hurts. CJP is not afraid to take the blame: we were caught off guard/called wrong play. This is way better than the two previous coaches whose best calls were: "Throw Player under the Bus on 3."

As far as this season: The Helmet grab-coaching moment and the 3rd -1 bomb against SCAR or MissSt to ice the game.

You should watch the replay again.
That’s not even close to what happened.
Shamburger is nodding in agreement and goes back into the game fired up and ready to play.
You obviously dont read posts either. That's why I used the word "about" and he absolutely wanted to strangle him after that play. And yes, he did go back in and was fired up which is why I loved it.
