Tim Banks Appreciation Thread

No it’s not really. You should look at 3rd down %, yards per play, and points per drive. Points per game is skewed by pace. Those stats are not
3rd down % only matters if you get them to 3rd down (South Carolina had 72.7%, Florida 46.6% on 3rd but 83.3% on 4th converting 5 out of 6)

There's no way to skew giving up 500 yds into being a good thing. There might be exceptions like Clemson running 100 plays. But if you watched the Florida game or South Carolina or even Bama and thought that was even average defense idk what to tell you. We won those games in spite of the defense.

Our defense played really well against Bama. You should watch that game again

Multiple fourth down stops
Multiple sacks
Pressure all night
Held our Clemson to numerous field goal attempts
The most aggressive DC in the sec

And we have far more defensive talent coming in next year than we have now

Edit: add multiple turnovers

You just sent the negavols to borderline stroke. I love it!

Oh really? Our defense has been horrendous all year. They weren’t even that great tonight numerous missed field goals and got pushed down the field at will. Awful against several teams this season. Martinez and the DBs have been horrific all year as well. Both need to go

Gonna be a long off-season. 😂😂😂

No they didn't. Maybe a few plays but that's it.

Watch the game. We lived in their backfield. Did they score? Of course. They have the best player in college football at QB. But watch the game. Keep him in 3rd in long (the place you claimed our defense couldn’t get to).

Defense has been very solid this year. You’re simply cherry picking games while ignoring multiple great performances

We hold the ACC champion to 14 points and people still complain about the defense. Go figure. They played great tonight, and this is after pitching a shutout in the last game they played as well. One terrible game shouldn't overrule the progress they made from year one to year two.

I never claimed anything. I made a general statement about 3rd down. We let them do whatever they want. We got in the backfield but rarely got home and he scrambled around and found an open guy. But it's not the front 7 that's really the problem. It's the back 7. And a lot of it is scheme. 2nd and medium or 3rd and short and we run zone coverages with soft coverage or zone blitzes and any experienced QB that had a good offense made us pay for it. Easy throws underneath or into where the blitzer vacated.

The defense has had some poor outings this year but give credit where it’s due…they had a very good game tonight. If we had a couple of corners, we could be tough. Hopefully, the freshman can contribute next year.

The last 2 games have been defensive masterpieces. Poor Clemson QB was so rattled and confused. Like when we dropped 9 and rushed 2, poor guy's clock was ticking and he decides to scramble after 2 seconds.

He has called a great game but we did catch some breaks with their fg kicker.

Gbo!
That was not their feild goal kicker. Banks has created a new secret position called super safety. Potter is the world's first.

All jokes aside before this game dude was like 18/21 and automatic inside of 49 yards. Someone

Maybe you need to go coach them.

Winning sure does blind people. We went 11-2 due to our Offense and Run D. Our Secondary has been complete trash the whole year and that's without much potential to look forward to considering they rotated like 10+ guys throughout the year due to injuries and no one really made a name for themselves. Do I think Tim Banks needs to go? I don't think so, but Martinez sure does cuz it's either he can't recruit good talent or he can't coach and I just have a hard time believing we have 10+ guys that don't have talent and can't turn their heads around consistently or give 10 yard cushions.

I enjoy discussions on this board, but sometimes I just shake my head in amazement. This staff took over a team that was really bad, and then had many of the best talent transfer, especially on the defensive side. They have faced an enormous challenge trying to coach them up to compete against far, far superior talent. Unbelievable how short some folks' memories are.

Love Heupel, loved Golesh. I have the utmost confidence in our head coach, the offensive staff and Rodney Gardner on the defensive side of the staff. I have seen literally nothing from Martinez yet except his position he coaches being the weak link on the defense. Our DBs weren’t even good when he was here with Butch. If it’s a talent problem then he needs to recruit better. Our secondary has been horrid and someone has to take the blame. It’s going to cost us games.
