The Tennessee coaching staff has been on a mission to secure top talent among the wide receiver core and now VolNation has learned of the newest commit to the Volunteer family, Delvin Jones(Miami, FL/Miami Palmetto), who is a 6’6 230 pound athlete that can play all over the field.

“I committed to Tennessee, yes sir,” said Jones. “ I had been thinking about it for a few weeks now but my Mom and Dad wanted me to sit on it for a bit and think about it. They wanted me to make sure it was the school I really wanted to commit to.”

With the commit completed Jones described his parents feelings towards the school and how the coaches reacted to his commitment.

“Well my parents like Tennessee a lot,” said Jones. “That said they knew it was my choice and they gave me the freedom of me picking the school I want to go to. So with my parents on my side I went with Tennessee and told the staff. I spoke to Coach Wilson and he was really excited for the news. He was yelling and just glad I joined the family.”

While thinking about committing for a few weeks Jones informed VolNation of the schools he was down to before his commitment.

“I was thinking about Florida, Alabama, Ole Miss, USC, and Tennessee,” said Jones. “What put Tennessee over the top was that I really got along well with the coaching staff and I was told I could play as a freshman maybe. My bond with the staff was the big reason.”

With the chance to play early now in his sights the question for Jones is not when but where will he play.

“The staff is looking at me as an Athlete but are saying I will try Wide Receiver first,” said Jones. “I told the staff though I will play anywhere they put me. I would like to play Wide Receiver but if not its totally ok and I will try another spot.”

The only thing left for Jones is to take his official visit to Tennessee and he plans on taking it before Christmas sometime.

“I’d like to go before Christmas if I could,” said Jones. “Right now I am just focused on getting ready for my senior year and winning that state title.”

VolNation would like to thank Jones and his family for the chance to speak with him about this exciting moment in their life and would also like to welcome them to the Tennessee family.

It’s wonderful that you have chosen UT. Boy, do we need a super star to help us get back up to the level of the elite. I know you won’t be sorry you chose UT as our school has put a lot of receivers in the NFL over the years. I wish you the very best. It will be great to see you in the orange and white!
