“Things have been really good for me, I am truly blessed,” said Powell. “I was able to see a lot of different places and compete with the best in these camps. I went to the Top Gun camp a few weeks back and got to play against some of the nation’s best players. While I was there I really did well against the nation’s best and I really enjoyed myself.”
While camping at camps across the country Powell was able to see lots of schools and different areas and one school he didn’t get to visit was Tennessee but that hasn’t stopped Powell from showing some interest in the school.
“Tennessee was the first school to offer me a scholarship,” said Powell. “The fact they offered first still carries some weight in my heart and after all these offers I have I still remember who offered first. The program is also going to be a good one and has been a good one. I like the new staff and I think I could be taking a visit out to Tennessee for an official visit.”
While Defensive Line coach Ed Orgeron and Tight Ends and Offensive Line coach James Cregg has been Powell’s primary contact the two coaches will face an uphill battle for Powell as Pac-10 champion Southern Cal and national champion Florida are both recruiting Powell very hard.
“I get asked about Florida and SC being my favorite all the time,” said Powell. “Right now I am very interested in both schools for a lot of reasons but I won’t come out and say right now they are the clear cut favorites. I’ve been to both schools multiple times and both schools are where I am the most comfortable right now because of how often I’ve tripped there.”
Powell noted he is looking for a school that’s going to compete and is loyal to the coaching staff.
“I am looking to come in and play right away for titles and national titles,” said Powell. “I don’t want to go to a rebuilding program. I am also looking for a school who is loyal to the staff and won’t let the coaching staff go while I am there. I want to come in with the current staff and leave with the current staff.”
While Powell is trying to decide on his visit dates to whom and when VolNation.com will keep you updated on any news regarding Powell or any other Tennessee target.
