Georgia running back Storm Johnson (Loganville, HS) is currently rated as the sixth best running back according to ESPN rankings. The 5’11, 210 pound back is currently rated in the prestigious ESPNU 150. Even though he is considered a power runner, he is also blessed with blazing speed. Johnson was clocked earlier this year running a 4.54 forty yard dash. The running back spoke with VolNation to discuss his current recruitment and future plans.

“Everything is pretty much the same right now,” said Johnson. “Right now, I’m just planning my actions and trying to figure things out. The schools that are showing me the most attention are West Virginia, Florida State, Penn State, Michigan, and Kentucky. Tennessee really hasn’t been contacting me.”

The Peach State product was prepared to sign with rival LSU. There were rumors that he had signed with the Tigers, but now he has separated all ties with the school. He explained the situation the last time we spoke.

“It was just one of those things,” said Johnson. “I wanted to make sure it was right for me. I wanted to take some time on recruitment and they (LSU) wanted to do the same.”

Johnson discussed what he is looking for in his school of choice.

“I’m looking for a coaching staff that I bond with, “said Johnson. “ I’m looking for playing time, a great academic school, and just a school that will push me to be the best player I can really be.”

Johnson claims an offer from the Volunteers, but stated that he hasn’t spoken to the coaches in a good while. The sixth rated back discussed what he excels at and must improve before stepping onto the division one college football field.

“My strengths are that I am a big back that can do little back type of things,” said Johnson. “I’m very quick on my toes. I have really good vision. I see things that other tailbacks don’t really see. I give you both sides of a running back. I give you speed, quickness, and a down to down back. My weaknesses are working on getting low. I finish runs, but I have to work on getting low.”

Many Georgia youngsters grow up being a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. This specific recruit did not follow the same upbringing.

“I really didn’t have a favorite team,” said Johnson. I just watched football. I mostly just liked watching good football games. I liked watching when the number one team played the number two team. Things like that.”

Storm Johnson plans on enrolling in his school of choice in early January. He stated his emphasis on finding that school of choice. He doesn’t entirely know which schools will be receiving official visits. The highly rated running back finished our conversation explaining his uncertainty of a decision timeline.

“I don’t really know at this point,” said Johnson. “I’m not too sure at this time.”
