A few weeks back the Tennessee Volunteers hosted UCLA for a Pac-10 vs. SEC showdown. The Vols didn’t walk away from the game victorious in a sense but they did walk away winners in another style of playing host. The Vols hosted a very impressive group of recruits and one of those was DeMarco Cobbs (Tulsa, OK/Tulsa Central). VolNation.com has caught up a few weeks later to speak with him about his commitment and why he pulled the trigger to become the latest Vol.
“Well the visit was just insane and I loved every minute of the visit,” said Cobbs. “It didn’t matter that the Vols lost to UCLA. UCLA is a good team and so is Tennessee. I liked the fact they got a lot of young players in the game and were competing the entire time. The visit was just awesome and I knew it was the place for me.”
Cobbs has widely been thought of to be a Vol lean and now the commitment was the final piece to the puzzle for this talented slot receiver.
“I had Tennessee up top for me for a while and I just wanted to get it over with,” said Cobbs. “ I felt like it was a place I was comfortable with and Oklahoma kids have a history of going to UT and playing well, so I felt like I could be the next one to do it.”
Cobbs joins the commit ranks of Markeith Ambles, Matt Milton, and Ted Meline. The four players could be a pretty lethal quartet for years at Tennessee.
“A lot of guys are going to Tennessee that will help us turn it around,” said Cobbs. “I think things will turn around and the guys coming in will help the program get back to the good days.”
The Vols got a talented wide out in Cobbs but they also got an even better person. Cobbs will get to Knoxville next season and will look to see the field as soon as possible. VolNation.com would like to thank DeMarco for his time and wish him congrats on his choice.
