“You know its somewhat like a double edge sword in a way for my senior year,” said Hurd. “I am having a really good season for myself but as a team we just are struggling a bit. We are 1-7 on the season and just have had some games where we come just short on the win. We don’t get blown out of any games and we stay in them all. We just can’t win for some reason.”
While having a losing record hurts for Hurd it isn’t a lack of effort from his part.
“The coaches have me playing everywhere on the field,” said Hurd. “I love it. I get to play inside backer, outside backer, corner back, safety, wide out, running back, slot back, you name it I play it.”
While the 5’9 185 pound athlete with 4.5 speed is playing all over he said he couldn’t provide any stats.
“I don’t know any of my stats because I am just trying my best to help the team succeed and do the best we can do possible. I don’t worry about stats.”
While the football season hasn’t been so hot for Hurd his recruiting trail has been a wild ride.
“I had a lot of schools coming after me and then because my season started and I play on Saturdays I don’t get to visit schools and things died down a bit,” said Hurd. “I hear the most from Oregon, Notre Dame, and the home school Texas AM.”
In the past Tennessee was a fixture to possibly land Hurd and VolNation found out what Tennessee’s status is.
“I am interested in Tennessee but it is hard to be really interested in a school when you haven’t heard from them in a couple of weeks,” said Hurd. “I used to get a ton of mail and then once the season started it started to die down. I am hoping once the season is over that maybe the interest will pick back up.”
While playing his senior year on Saturdays has been a fun time for Hurd he states he can’t do any recruiting because of it.
“To be honest we play on Saturdays and that allows me to focus on my senior season and school,” said Hurd. “Once the season is over then I will start taking officials and looking at schools. I am totally open still and just working hard on the season. Then once we are done there I will be able to focus primarily on college.”
