Brandon Willis and Corey Miller seem to do things together. They go to high school together, they play defensive line at Byrnes together, they took and unofficial visit to Knoxville last month and then they committed to the Volunteers together just after that visit. Now the two of them will be taking their official visits to watch their future team take on the Gamecocks from their home state of South Carolina.

Vol Nation already caught up with Corey Miller and like everything else with these two, Willis isn’t far behind. Brandon and Corey are such good friends that it makes sense that their recruitment has and will be taking them to the same place. Willis will join Miller in Knoxville this weekend for his official visit.

“I’m real excited about it. It is going to be good to get back there again, this time as a commit. It’s a big game against the Gamecocks and I know there are going to be some other highly rated prospects there as well.”

Does Willis consider himself the type of recruiter that Miller is?

“Corey is a little more outspoken and all that. I have been in touch with some guys and will continue to do so but I’m more laid back and let things fall into place. I have a couple of guys that I talk you on the reg though,” Miller said laughing.

With a solid commitment in place, Willis plans to use this weekend to better identify himself with the recruits, the players, the coaches and even the fans.

“You know, I’m not a part of the UT program yet but I want to make my presence felt around there because it won’t be long until Corey and I are there doing our thing. I just want to get to know everyone there and start to build those relationships.”

As far as his current school, Byrnes looks to be well on their way to another South Carolina state championship. Although they lost to the nation’s number one team in St. Thomas Aquinas, they have destroyed everyone else on their schedule and should probably cruise through the playoffs again.

“We are looking pretty good right now. We lost the big one but our goal is always to win the state championship. Anything beyond that is gravy, I like where we’re at”

Willis, who will likely play on the inside in Knoxville likes the way the defense has performed to date and expects that things will only get better.

“UT already has some talent but things are only going to get better when some of us get there. With some more recruits and the amazing staff that they have in place, it is going to be a fun few years I can tell you that much.”

Vol Nation will catch up with Brandon and Corey once they return home to South Carolina
