ESPNU Super 60 shooting guard Kevin Ware ended his recruitment on Sunday when the 6-foot-3 Georgia native picked Tennessee, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Ware, ranked No. 28 overall in the Class of 2011, also had offers from Miami, Florida and Georgetown among others.

“It’s good knowing I’m going up there with people I already know,” said Ware. “It’s just Tennessee’s style of play, how I fit the system, and the academics.

“Georgetown was too far away, Florida stopped recruiting me once, and the only reason they started up again was they lost a player, and I only talked to Miami four or five times.”

ESPN.com Recruiting Coordinator Joel Francisco had a chance to watch Ware at the 16U USA Basketball mini-camp in October.

“Kevin is a very promising combo-guard prospect with high-level athleticism and a frame that should fill out nicely in the future. He has a wiry frame with long arms and he’s extremely quick and bouncy.

“He excels in transition where he can attack the rim and has excellent body control in traffic.”

Ware also has the skill to set up his teammates, according to Francisco.

“In addition to his athletic ability, he’s a very good passer. His passes are always on the money and show a lot of skill and savvy.

“Defensively, he has all the intangibles, with the exception of strength, to be a lock-down defender,” Francisco added. “He’s got quick hands, very good lateral quickness, and he plays with a lot of energy.”

Once Ware adds a consistent perimeter jump shot his game will take off.

“His jump shot needs to improve considerably to have a greater impact at the next level,” Francisco noted. “His shot in the mid-range area is fairly solid, but once he gets out past 15-feet it tends to get very flat and inconsistent.”

Ware is the first commitment for the Volunteers in the Class of 2011.

Evalution

October, 2009: Ware is a very promising combo-guard prospect that possesses high-level athleticism and a frame that should fill out nicely in the future. He has a wiry frame with long arms and he is extremely quick and bouncy. He excels in transition where he can attack the rim (monster dunker) and he knows how to adjust his frame (excellent body control) in traffic. In addition to his athletic prowess, he is a very astute passer. His passes are on the money and display a lot of skill and savvy. In the half court set he has the quickness and speed to blow by defenders and finish above the rim. On the other hand, his jump shot needs to improve considerably if he’s to have the same impact at the next level. His shot in the mid-range area is fairly solid, but once he gets out past 15-feet it tends to get very flat and inconsistent. Defensively, he has all the intangibles-with the exception of strength-to be a lock-down defender. He has quick hands, very good lateral quickness, and he plays with a lot of energy.
