While the weather is starting to turn from crisp fall weather to wet and cold winter weather the recruiting trail is heating up to levels that are off the charts. The Vol coaching staff is out hitting the trail hard and VolNation.com learned that current four-star corner Tyler Stephenson (Lancaster, TX) who is currently committed to Baylor might be opening things back up and the Vols are a school who might become a player.

“I recently went out to Oregon and really enjoyed it out there,” said Stephenson. “I took the visit because when I committed to Baylor I didn’t have time to really look at schools because of how busy I was coming down from track and going right into summer workouts for football and then the season. Now that the season is starting to wind down I am getting more time to look into schools and I felt like I needed to check out some more schools.”

Stephenson has visits set for Baylor the 14th of November and then the next week he heads out to Tuscan, AZ to see Arizona on the 21st. He is also looking at visiting TCU and stated Tennessee is another school he is looking at possibly visiting.

“I am not going to Knoxville this weekend, that is false, but I am considering the visit out there,” says Stephenson. “I am going to check out Arizona on the 21st when they play Oregon, and no, that isn’t on purpose. That is the day the coaches at UA wanted me to come out so don’t look into that too much. I am also looking at TCU as another school. I am going to check out Baylor again on an unofficial too.”

Stevenson talked about why he wants to check out Tennessee down the road.

“Tennessee is a school that when they call you have to listen,” said Stephenson. “I know they showed me a lot of love before I committed. I need to know they want me out there and then once that happens I will be going out for a visit.”

So while Stephenson waits for a date to set up to see Knoxville he is focused on getting his team to the playoffs.

“We got one game left and it decides if we go to the playoffs or not,” says Stephenson. “ If we win by seven points then we are in. If we don’t we are not in the playoffs. Our team is sort of rebuilding as we lost a lot of seniors from last year. We beat this team last year pretty easily but they were young and now the roles are some what reversed. It should be a good game.”
