Tampa, FL- The offers continue to pour in for Alonso high star Anthony Chickillo. The ESPNU 150 watch lister claims he is up to 42 total offers and continues to hear from new schools. Anthony is a big time defensive prospect that could line up in a multitude of spots due to his versatility. He’s been able to visit the “big three” schools in the state of Florida, but has plans to head out this summer to several destinations. Here’s some details regarding his plans.

“I’m up to 42 offers right now. All of them are probably recruiting me the same right now so it’s really tough to say who is recruiting me the hardest. I don’t have any favorites or anything right now, I’m still very open. I’m going to try and narrow my list down by summer.”

“I went to all 3 Florida schools. I’m going to head out of state later. I know I want to visit Ohio State, Tennessee, USC, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Virginia Tech, Alabama, and Auburn. I’m looking to develop a good relationship with my position coach since that’s who I will be spending most of my time with. I’m also looking for that home feel since I will be there for at least 4 years.”

Most of the schools are recruiting him as a defensive end, but there are a few that play with an over sized linebacker also called a “Jack”. Alabama, georgia Tech, Notre Dame, and Wake Forest have all discussed that role with Anthony.

“I wouldn’t mind playing some standup but I really like having my hand down. I’m 6’4″ 235 lbs right now and I’m really trying to get better at the little things. My takeoff, my technique, just be dominant. The coaches all tell me they like my take off and that I use my hands well. They say I go 100 MPH after the quarterback until the whistle blows. I just want to do whatever helps my team win.”

Anthony was able to take part in one of Florida State’s two junior days. He offered a few thoughts on that visit.

“FSU was real nice. I can see Jimbo Fisher is going to turn it around. I went there for their junior day and it was impressive.”

With a host of other schools possibly getting a visit, he took some time to talk what he likes about a few schools in particular.

“Alabama, coach Saban is great he really wins. He’s one of the best at getting a player’s full potential. I love the coaches there. They are definitely likely to get a visit this summer.”

“Tennessee, I have had lots of contact with the new coaches there. Coach Chuck Smith is recruiting me. I know he knows my position, he coached and played in the NFL. He’s been around guys like Calvin Pace and Albert Haynesworth.”

Don’t expect an early commitment form Anthony. He plans on taking his time and checking out the schools. He also claims that he is seeking recruiting guidance from his mother, father and another recruit from the area.

“Yeah I talk to James Wilder from Tampa Plant quite a bit. We are looking at a lot of the same schools and we talk. I’m not saying we are a package deal, but we talk and we’ll see what happens.”

Anthony will likely play both ways again this year at defensive and tight end.
