For Tennessee the football program is still trying to make inroaods into the west coast and having defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox running the defense will certainly help that plan.
For Jason Gibson (Gardena, CA/ Junipero Serra) the Vols have been recruiting him hard and have offered him a scholarship.
“Yes sir I do have an offer from the Vols and I also have offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Ca, Florida, Miami, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Washington State,” said Gibson.
The 6’3 212 defensive end might seem like he’s a tad small for playing on a defensive line at a BCS school but he says otherwise.
“I feel with my speed I can blow by anyone on the line and I’ve been working hard on getting stronger and showing I can use my strength to get past people too,” says Gibson.
Gibson is planning on using all five of his official visits this fall and talked if the Vols had a chance at getting one of those visits.
“I think the Tennessee program is a good program and they are in the SEC,” says Gibson. “Right now I don’t really know who will be geting a visit so I don’t want to say ya they look good or they don’t because I don’t want to tip my hat any one way.”
“I do like the defense out there and it being in the SEC is a big plus and I also know the staff led by Coach Dooley is rebuilding things up and are changing the cultur at Tennessee.”
Gibson cited having a chance to play early while having a coaching staff that prepares you for the next level while also caring for you and helping you have a backup plan education wise will be the keys to him picking a college.
As a junior Gibson had 75 tackles, 11 sacks, recovered 2 fumbles and had 1 forced fumble.
