Three-star cornerback prospect Jared Boyd has some big goals for this fall.
“Man, things are going real well and I have been working real hard,” Boyd said. “I want to get that ring.”

Boyd, 5-foot-9 and 165 pounds, is one of the top cornerback prospects in the South and recently visited Knoxville and the University of Tennessee.

“It was nice. The facilities are great and the coaches are real nice. I was impressed with everything,” he said. “I mean I never thought it would be like that. I thought it would be all country. Tennessee is one of the best visits I have seen. I have also seen Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Auburn.”

According to Boyd, he has over two dozen scholarship offers but admits that he doesn’t know the exact number.

“I have over 15 scholarship offers and it’s kind of embarrassing. I mean it’s a blessing. I know Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Duke, Southern Miss, Buffalo, Indiana, Illinois, Syracuse, and Stanford have offered,” Boyd said. “I have one from every conference so I know I can play anywhere.”

At this point, does one school standout for Boyd?

“I have a favorite but I don’t want to put it out. Towards the end of summer I want to cut it down. Those schools are the ones I will take (official) visits to. I know I will take one to Stanford.”

Boyd plans on seeing Ole Miss next month and take a trip to North Carolina.

“I want to visit some of the North Carolina schools. My grandparents live over there in North Carolina so I want to see Wake Forest, NC State and North Carolina,” he said. “They are all recruiting me but have not offered me yet. I am surprised that Wake Forest has not offered. Both my parents went there and I had a real good camp there last summer.”
