Miami, FL.- Versatility is a very valuable commodity in the recruiting world. Some recruits have the athletic ability to play several positions, or also have the size to be moved around. Miami Jackson versatile two-way lineman Ruben Carter has been a hot name in recent weeks. However one team has made the jump to the top of the list for his signature, and it appears they will be tough to beat.

“It’s been picking up. I went to two camps and picked up offers at each. I play both ways in high school, but my coach told me to work out on offensive line. It must have worked because schools have really warmed up to me at offensive lineman. I can play offensive tackle or guard. I have 13 offers right now. I have a top 5 trimmed down. FSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, and Kansas. Auburn and Florida have not offered yet, they said they were still evaluating me a little bit more.”

The 6’4.5″ 285 lineman has a favorite among his top five though.

“FSU is number one right now. I love coach Trickett. I went to a camp up there and learned more in an hour and a half than I’ve learned my whole high school career. They offered me at the camp. I like the staff, I love Jimbo Fisher he seems really down to earth. I have a good relationship with coach Coley, he played under my high school coach and we talk every day. He said that nobody is going to recruit me harder than he will. I think I’m heading back up there next weekend again. August 5th-6th I might be back in Tallahassee. I’m thinking if I visit I may commit there after my visit. They are my clear leader. I also talk to Bobby Hart at least twice a week.”

With FSU clearly in the driver’s seat at the moment, Carter discussed what could happen if he decides to make the early commitment to FSU.

“If I commit, I might take 2 or 3 more visits. I will be a solid commit, but I also really like Tennessee and will probably check them out. But right now I don’t have any other visits planned besides this trip to FSU.”
