in Tennessee Vols Football

The Southeastern Conference announced Monday that Tennessee’s Oct. 23 game against Alabama is being televised by ESPN and kicks off at 7 p.m. Eastern time.

The Vols and Crimson Tide are meeting for the 93rd time in a series that began in 1901, with Alabama holding a 47-38-7 advantage. Alabama’s edge is just 21-20-1 in Knoxville, where UT has won five of the last seven meetings. Tennessee lost 12-10 a year ago in Tuscaloosa, a game that was Alabama’s closest margin of victory during an undefeated season.

The game marks Tennessee’s first ESPN appearance since the Chick-fil-A Bowl last December in Atlanta, although the Vols were on ESPN2 for a September home game against Oregon.

Other conference games being televised that weekend are Mississippi at Arkansas on the SEC Network (11:21 a.m. Central), LSU at Auburn on CBS (2:30 p.m. Central), UAB at Mississippi State on ESPNU (6 p.m. Central), South Carolina at Vanderbilt on Fox Sports Net (6 p.m. Central) and Georgia at Kentucky on CSS (7:30 p.m. Eastern).
