Tennessee on Uzomah’s list

in Tennessee Vols Football Recruiting

CJ Uzomah When the Vols landed Tyler Bray out of the state of California the Vols were able to land their quarterback for the 2010 class and look to working on finding their next one for the class of 2011. One of the early targets for the Vols coaching staff is C.J. Uzomah (Suwannee, GA/North Gwinnett HS). Uzomah is a 6’5 210 pound quarterback who is one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the 2011 class. VolNation.com caught up with Uzomah and got some insight on his season and his early recruiting process.

“Right now we are doing really well actually, we are 5-0 and looking to stay that way,” said Uzomah. “On a personal note I have done pretty well. I have thrown for 834 yards, seven touchdowns, one interception, and I have a 65 percent throwing percentage. I have also rushed the ball 47 times for 320 yards and five touchdowns too.”

While Uzomah is starring on the football field as a junior, college coaches have taken notice and many have offered, including the Vols.

“Well right now I have 10 official offers from schools,” said Uzomah. “I have offers from UGA, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Clemson, Miami, UNC, Vandy, Maryland, and USF. I hear from other schools too but those are the ones who have offered me right now. I can’t take all the credit though for getting those offers because I have had a lot of help. My coaches prepare me to play my best, and then I have a great offensive line who gives me time, and lastly my skill position players are really talented. We are a team effort.”

While Uzomah stated he is interested in the Vols program and what they have to offer he wanted to go on record for being totally open at the moment.

“Right now I can’t say I have any favorites right now,” said Uzomah. “I think its too early in the game to say ‘I have these five schools or something as a favorite’. I really want to make sure I do all my homework and check out every school that is interested in me. So, if I say I have a favorite I may miss out on a school who likes me because they feel I may not like them. I am totally open and am really excited to see where it goes after the season starts.”

While Uzomah is a dual-threat QB he did state he is open to learning to play whatever style a college wants him to play.

“I think I’d be more effective in a spread offense simply because I am used to it, but part of being a good ball player is being able to adjust,” said Uzomah. “So I think I would be able to try and adjust to any style of football that I go into. I am open for anything.”

While Uzomah doesn’t have any favorites he did state that he’d like to check out the Vols campus sometime this season, among other schools.

“Tennessee is a school I want to visit this fall,” said Uzomah. “I want to try and check out a good amount of schools and Tennessee is one of those schools on my list. I hope I can do it.”

Sounds like he’d fit in any offense to me. Great read. Thanks, Matt.

You need a comma in the third paragraph. Took e a second to figure out exactly how that was supposed to be worded.
