When you are looking for one of the nation’s best future linebackers for the 2011 class it is a good idea to head south and check out the state of Florida and see what they have to offer. One for those top linebackers in the state of Florida is Denzel Perryman (Coral Gables, FL). Perryman currently has 13 scholarship offers and the interest from other schools continues to climb up the charts.

VolNation.com got in touch with this talented player to see where he currently stands with the Vols and how his junior season is going.

“Right now the season is going pretty good but I think it could be better,” said Perryman. “We have lost three games and now sit at 2-3 so that is bad. My coaches however say I still have yet to play my best game and that I have been doing really well. I am hoping I can continue to get better and keep getting pushed harder and harder from my coaches.”

While Perryman’s Coral Gambles team hasn’t been playing the best the college coaches from around the state and the southeast have taken notice.

“Recruiting is going well, I hear the most from Florida, Miami, and Florida State but those are state schools,” said Perryman. “I also hear from Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Boston College, West Virginia, Duke, Clemson, and Georgia a good amount as well. UCLA and Cal also have picked up their interest. All these schools have given me an official offer already.”

While Perryman has already heard a good amount from colleges he’s already picked out two very important traits he want’s to see a school have.

“I’d like to go to a school have two key things, one an academic and the other football,” said Perryman. “I want to major in computer science so a school who has a great program in that area will get a lot of interest. I also want to play for a program that is on the upswing and winning games. I don’t want to go to a school who is slipping.”

While the Volunteers may have a .500 record at 3-3 they have caught the eye of this talented linebacker.

“I like the way the Vols play defense up there,” said Perryman. “They really fly around on defense and I love that. I like the fact they play so hard and always to the whistle.”

While Perryman is hearing from schools all over he is still working hard and focusing on football.

“Right now I just want to get better and go from there,” said Perryman, “there are schools I still want to hear from and I need to show them I deserve it.”
