The staff will have the luxury of hosting a couple of committed players on hand to help with their recruiting efforts and they will come from the state of the visiting team. The last time Corey Miller and Brandon Willis were in Knoxville they walked away as verbal commitments and have both since solidified their status. Both will be on hand as their future team hosts their home-state team on Saturday.
Vol Nation caught up with Vol commit (Byrnes HS) Corey Miller to get an idea of where his head is at as another visit approaches.
“Really, it is just a chance for us to get back out there and take in another weekend in Knoxville and this time it will be official. They are playing South Carolina so it will be good to see the two programs match up live in person. Growing up, I have seen a lot of both programs but Tennessee just makes so much more sense for me as a player.”
With his recruitment finalized, how has Miller been spending his time during his senior season?
“Well I have been mostly concentrating on my senior season. We lost our biggest game of the year to STA but it was a good game. I didn’t have the game I wanted to and neither did the team but they are a great team. I wish we could play them again but for now we just have to try and win another state title and the rest will work itself out.”
With his defensive line mate on the same page with him as far as future plans, what have they been doing to make sure their recruiting class is the best it can be?
“B (Brandon Willis) and I have been doing our thing, you know. Both of us know plenty of cats from camps and competing against so many kids through the years. There are a lot of big time players in our region so we work the phones and try to see what we can do to help out.”
There is a certain running back who roams the backfield at Byrnes that has been rumored to have moved UT back into the picture, so what does Miller think about that subject?
“I honestly don’t know. Marcus (Lattimore) has to make the right decision for himself and we all know what the future looks like at running back so he has plenty of choices and decisions to make.”
Miller is looking forward to meeting a couple of the other visitors and seeing where they stand as far as their commitments go.
“It’ll be good to get to spend some time with the team, the coaches and hopefully some future teammates as well. I think it is going to be a great weekend overall.”
Vol Nation will follow up with Corey upon his return home.
