The heavy attention has started to turn towards the class of 2011. Most coaches have started with their evaluation processes for the class of 2011 prospects. Early offers are already sent out, while letters and phone calls start to pour in to some of the elite prospects across the nation. One linebacker from Georgia has some early offers from some big time programs, and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down either. Shannon Brown, a 6’1″ 223 lb inside linebacker from Adel, Georgia has just finished his junior season of football and was able to share what’s new with his recruitment.

“Yes sir right now I have some early offers. ECU, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Florida State have all extended me early offers. Right now I would have to say that Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia are my early top 3, and Alabama is my top school right now. Everybody is mostly looking at me for inside linebacker, but I can also play running back. Tennessee, Georgia Tech., and Florida State all are considering me as a possible running back as well,” said Shannon.

Shannon has several schools on his radar. And he not only holds some interest in schools that have offered, but also in ones that have yet to offer. He broke down what he likes about a few particular schools.

“Florida State is a school I could see myself going to. They have a nice campus and I like the city. They are the only school I know of that has seen me run without pads. It’s only about an hour away from me. I’ve been to their campus a couple times. One thing I don’t like is how it seems they are running Bobby Bowden out. The guy is a coaching legend.”

“Alabama offered me and I was really very happy to get that offer. I like the community and the stadium. I went through there briefly this summer. I mean Coach Saban is great and the tradition they have is just great. I really like everything about Alabama right now.”

“Tennessee is really interesting too. They offered me and would consider me as a linebacker or running back they said right now. I like Lane Kiffin, I really like his style. I have not been on their campus, but the stadium looks good on TV. I’m also a big fan of Monte Kiffin.”

“Oregon, I love Oregon. I love watching them on TV. I love how they run the spread offense. I get lots of letters from them, but no offer yet. I would consider them if they were interested in me. I have a teacher in high school, she graduated from there. She mentioned how nice it was there and that the facilities they have are amazing.”

Although Shannon has some early favorites he is targeting, he also claims he’s in no hurry to make a decision. With football now over with his plan is to stay in shape and get ready for some camps this winter and summer.

“Right now I would say that Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia Tech are recruiting me the hardest. I just want to play football, I really don’t care what position. I mean I think I want to take my time with this decision. I will probably take all 5 visits. But at the same time if I find where I want to go early I would commit. I think a lot of schools like me becuase I’m a sure tackler. I don’t miss. I also believe my size and speed are some strong attributes. Overall I have pretty good athleticism I think. ”

Shannon is a member of the ESPNU 150 watch list for 2011. WIth a solid camp showing this summer expect this young man to be at or near the top of almost every coaches wish list.
