SEC RELEASE — Tennessee’s Scotty Hopson was named SEC Player of the Week after he scored 27 points and had three rebounds in leading the Vols to a win over third-ranked Pitt in Pittsburgh. Hopson exploded for a career-high 27 points during a dominant, 10-for-13 shooting performance that powered Tennessee to the decisive upset of Pitt . Hopson not only helped give the Vols their second win over a top-10 team in 16 days, but he also ensured that the SEC won this year’s SEC/Big East Invitational. In what basically amounted to a true road game in a hostile environment, Hopson was a perfect 3-for-3 from 3-point range and also shot 4-for-5 from the free-throw line. Hopson’s 17.9 points per game this season lead the Vols and rank fifth in the SEC, and he is shooting a team-best .407 from long range.
