That's kind of surprising. You would think all of those big-time Rutherford county programs would want to get on the field as soon as possible. Anyways, I'm excited to see JJ and crew on ESPN.

That being said, start 3 a day practice one week from tomorrow... full pads.

Can't say much on JJ because I've never watched him play football live, but Randall Cobb was phenomenal.

I played against Cobb at Alcoa his Senior season in a full-contact scrimmage in 2005. I was just a freshmen that year, but Cobb was unbelievably athletic. He made it look easy out there.

It only helped that he was surrounded by Dustin Lindsey, Kyrus Lanxter, Brandon Warren, Rae Sykes, and others on that team. I can't remember if Chris Shiverdecker had already transferred from Jefferson County and joined the team yet at that point or not. Either way, that team was loaded. And we played them fair too. We gave them everything they wanted.

Sigh. First year without football coming up for me. Getting really tough with fall quickly approaching. Problems of a has-been. I need some UT football to start ASAP to ease my mind.

Where have you been playing the last 4 years?

Volatil, Did you ever see Randall Cobb (Alcoa Qb) play? It's been at least 7 years but would you say JJ is a better suited Qb than he was?

I got to see Randall play a few times. He had a terrific running back with him and also a tough FB so it made his job easier. He ran a lot after options to the other backs and was tough to bring down and he threw some after the fakes and would have wide open receivers. I was a close friend to one of his grandmothers and we thought UT should have went for him. I've never seen JJ play so I can't compare them. Randall was a good kid.

I would but it's $350 a month in north Atlanta. Can't really beat that.

So, man up and buy it...it has to be a business expense somehow...better yet a medical expense :)

You will be insane without SEC football. Public service and likely saving at least the lives of your roommates :salute:

Volnation will soon remember what announcers mean when they say "rush ends" and "pressure from the front 4" and "3rd and long" and I cannot wait.

I played against Cobb my Soph year.. I remember this one play very well. I was blitzing. 3rd play of the game. He snapped the ball faked the hand off and came around the weak side and when he saw me I was already lowering my pads... I whiffed (he broke my ankles) when I got up and he was already gone. We lost 63-3. Vastly underrated athlete. Still don't know why we didn't offer.

Healthy Maggitt and Vereen could create chaos. I'm very excited to see what Sutton can do with a decent pass rush upfront.

There is a Bama fan that I work with. I was telling him about Jr and showing video. He asked "who is that guy working with him?" I said Wilhoit, you know the last kicker to beat Florida. He said "that guy is still alive?"

That was the end of the conversation.
