War in Ukraine

What’s Zelensky’s motivation to win this war? As losing as the war is going on the money keeps flowing in and he can’t be removed from office. He and his cronies can keep stuffing their pockets with impunity as long as the war drags on.
at the start of the war Russia had kill teams going after Zelensky with a pretty hefty bounty on his head. not sure if that has stopped/ended/been revoked.

and at some point the money in's impact will be limited by a war torn country and the extra eye's on them. Stories, real or fake like him buying those two yachts, get a lot more attention and push back while he is at war.

Ego and political future also come into play if he somehow wins. he would forever be Ukraine's hero IF he was able to defeat the Russians. I don;t see him losing too many elections with that on his resume'. especially if Putin is still in power afterwards.

Sure, I’m going to take his word that he’s survived a dozen assassination attempts. That’s about as believable as Biden getting arrested trying to visit Mandela or Hillary getting off the plane under sniper fire.

You’re just willfully gullible.
I would put Zelensky surviving an assassination's attempt about a million times more than either of those two.

Pretty sure with both Biden and Hillary there is even doubt they were in the countries ever, yet alone when they say they were. and Putin has a pretty good reason to go after Zelensky when Biden or Hillary would have been targets of convenience/happenstance. and I definitely believe Putin gave the order, he had an "ally" blown up by a missile. and also both the Biden and Hillary stories were singular 'potentially' made up events, Russia and Ukraine are definitely at war for almost 2 years giving plenty of opportunities.

As in finally get rid of the false pretense of fair democratic elections and just declare himself the winner?

Like hog I’d find that pretty hard to believe but this whole fiasco has been filled with surprises so who knows.

Maybe we can get a few more years of Dmitry Medvedev sock puppet president?

you believe they didnt dig deep enough after years and $40 million. you will never let the lie go.

The conclusion was that there was insufficient evidence of collusion to justify the investigation and I am unaware of anything that has changed that. Personally, given what we saw when Trump was in office, I am now much less inclined to believe any sort of actual collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.

I do believe Russia meddled to help Trump and that they surmised that he would be easier to manipulate than Clinton. In that respect, the Russians were an excellent judge of Trump's character (or lack thereof).

Zelensky will brief senators Tuesday ahead of key vote on military aid

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will address senators at a classified briefing Tuesday via a secure video conference feed, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced.

Zelensky will brief senators on the state of the war in Ukraine and the need for another round of military aid a day before the Senate is scheduled to vote on proceeding to the legislative vehicle for a $106 billion emergency foreign aid package that includes more than $61 billion for Ukraine.

So why did they help Bernie?

Now how is this not foreign influence?

Too bad Russian voters aren't like football fans here. The couple of losing seasons (not winning a 3 day game and heading into a third year of overtime) would have had Putin on the outside looking in ... and maybe getting a big monthly check, but guessing not on the check.

you are NOW much less inclined 3 years from the last time you saw Trump in office by what you saw 3 years ago?

Finally getting around to some introspection?

So is this what "winning" looks like?

Ukrainian soldier admits some of the marines trying to defend a key river against Russian attack 'can't even swim'

But the soldier said Ukrainian forces were experiencing serious shortages in equipment and reinforcements as they defended their positions, which were under relentless Russian attack.

"Several brigades were supposed to be posted here, not individual companies — we just don't have enough men," said the soldier.

"There are a lot of young guys among us. We need people, but trained people, not the green ones we have there now. There are guys who had spent just three weeks in training and only managed to shoot a few times," he said.

"Everyone who wanted to volunteer for war came a long time ago — it's too hard now to tempt people with money. Now we're getting those who didn't manage to escape the draft. You'll laugh at this, but some of our marines can't even swim," the soldier added.

Austin Warns Congress Failing to Pass Ukraine Aid ‘Very Likely’ Leads to US Troops on the Ground In Europe

who approves of this message?

Too many powerful people raking in too much to let the funding dry up.

Ukraine has done a decent job of fighting the Russians what makes this moron think the rest of Europe couldn't handle Russia if it came to it?

Blackmail... either you give us this money or else.

Also, my mind is racing just thinking about this comment.

1. How many boots on the ground? 20k? 100k? 300k? 1M?
2. How long would it take to mobilize?
3. Will it require a draft here at home? What kind of troops are they likely to get out of this generation?
4. How enthusiastic will other NATO countries in the region be to mobilize US troops in their countries once it is determined that the US is really considering fighting Russia in their backyard? Wouldn't Russia target these countries as well?
5. What is the enthusiasm level of the enlisted folks? Are they straining the leash looking forward to this war?
