All Time NBA Players Thread - No Jordan vs. Lebron Debate Allowed

He did win state, he played for a garbage college team, and in his short career, he already took one of the worst franchises to the WCF, and now a gold medal. That's a great resume for his age.

Come try to win a title by age 23 in this era.

Anthony Edwards said, “I didn’t watch the NBA back in the day (during Jordan’s era), so I can’t speak on it.” And then he went on to speak on it. Um…okay…

He said Jordan was the ONLY player with skill. That’s just silly. If he had said that the NBA is much deeper today than it was back then, I’d agree with that, but he said something dumb.

What Magic said was also dumb. It was an emotional reaction, and the old timer trope of “no one can comment on anything unless they’ve won a ring” always makes me roll my eyes.

Magic should have said something like, “You said you didn’t watch that era, so why are you saying no one had skill?”

Magic should've said all of that instead of what he said.

Also, I think the "I shouldn't speak on it." thing was for the evaluation that the past was tougher. You can watch about 10 minutes of finals footage and look at shooting numbers and pretty confidently evaluate the skill level.

It's really a race to say the dumbest **** possible. Lebron was excelling 20 years ago aso a 20 YO, btw. This is unforgivably stupid. Ant can say he meant "skill relative to today" but there is no explaining this away.

Yeah, I don’t know why everyone has to be so extreme with all of these statements. It’s never, “I think my era is a bit better.” It’s always “no one from this/that era could ever play in my era.” The blanket, absolute, extreme statements are ridiculous.

Yeah, it becomes a distraction from a valid point when you use hyperbole. If your point is good enough, then you shouldn't have to over-sell it.

Actually, kinda disappointing how Jackson didn't do much to distance himself from Ray on hustle stats.

Ray Allen per 36 = 4.1 rebounds,1.1 steals, 0.2 blocks, 2.2 fouls (and 3.4 assists vs 2.1 turnovers)

Jackson per 36 = 4.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals 0.4 blocks, 2.7 fouls (and 3.5 assists vs. 2.8 turnovers)

Jackson played for 8 teams and didn't suit up for 180 games for any of them. That's all you need to know right there.

I never want to listen to Stephen Jackson with a take again after he said all these young guys should make decisions for a ring instead of always taking the money when he left prime Tim Duncan for a couple extra million dollars after he won a title

I just saw Boogie Cousins trashing CP3, wondering why anybody would ever have him as a top 5 PG (and he really said Westbrook)...all I gotta say is I'm not surprised the lowest IQ/awareness star of the era doesn't properly appreciate the highest IQ PG of his era.

Unassailable modern era tier
Magic
Steph

Next tier (in no specific order)
Zeke
Stockton
Kidd
Nash
CP3

I think it's totally fine to leave CP3 out of your top 5, but to act like it's unreasonable to put him in your top 5 is pretty ridiculous.

I think it has way more to do with this than Cousins' basketball IQ

There's some deserved love for Isiah

Resume-wise, Zeke is definitely in the top 5. I don't put him in my best 5, tho. No disrespect, we're talking about the elite of the elite.
He's in mine, but I wanted to be Isiah when he was winning the Final 4 with Indiana and I was around 11. So, I'm biased
