Starting to look to me like Chaz is going to be a huge player for us at home and not much help on the road. Was nice to see other players like Dubar, Zach, and Okpara step up and bring us a win.
Yeah, it’s more the inefficiency. I agree with those who want him to take a few less midrange shots a game also
Never said he wasn't contributing. The answer was not much 3 for 16 at Florida and then last night. Not down on him other players have to play well when he isn't and they did. I'm just convinced he is going to be a huge home player and not that same player on the road.He still scored 10 & had 4 rebounds, defended pretty well too.
Let’s not act like he’s not contributing out there. Had 10 with 7 rebounds at Florida too.
I think that is way off and a misread of what Barnes was saying. He was not sitting Chaz for performance, he was telling him keep taking the open shots, that is why we you are here. Sitting Nico would have done nothing but kill his confidence and lessen the number of snaps he sees going in to next year. Had he been benched multiple times as you suggested when our biggest problems were on O line that was often horrible and wide receivers who absolutely cannot create separation then not only would Nico likely being playing against us next year but you would also see us drop off the list of top QB future recruits as well as Brandon going somewhere else. Good thing coach is not aa impulsive and in need of immediate gratification as some of our fans.Yep he should have sat Nico a dozen times at least.
He should look at what happens to players who respond well to Barnes publicly calling them out. If they listen and respond, it usually works out well for them.Unfortunately some kids don’t like to be called out so they get mad and transfer.
Lanier seems to have a good head on his shoulders so hopefully this drives him to get better.
Agreed! This is the Road to the Final Four. Coach Barnes knows this might be the team to get there with a little bit of luck.Lanier's underlying fundamentals are much like Igor's, they do a couple of things very well, several things they need significant work on, particularly ball handling when required and ability to pass the ball in traffic or when fully defended, when Z and/or Gainey are close by, often times those shortcomings can be glossed over, Dubar has more of the complete skill set, but he needs to get comfortable and confident with the game at this level, the speed, physicality, pushes, shoves, no calls and ticky tack calls from the SEC clowns in striped shirts. But Barnes has assembled good kids, capable of learning and improving, it is much harder to see in season, particularly the rough and tumble SEC season.
Tough Coaching Love. Lanier can sulk which he will not because he knows CRB is right and has the resume to prove it.Unfortunately some kids don’t like to be called out so they get mad and transfer.

Nothing better for your confidence than the coach telling you that if you don’t take the shot, you won’t play. So many others get “you better make that or you won’t play.”Sometimes unselfish behavior can come from a bad place, psychologically. I think Barnes is on the trail of that varmint and intends to set Chaz free from that... set him free to reach his potential.
Experience with people is a treasure built over time, that takes time to pass on.
Makes me think a good investment will prove to be Barnes' coaching tree. Off court, for sure, and maybe some on the court.
