He designed the play coming out of the half. Not only did Lanier not take the shot he threw the ball into our bench cross court. He doubled his trouble with neglecting the shot and turning the ball over. He deserved to sit and nothing wrong with calling him out publicly. Accepting constructive criticism is a learned behavior, sometimes you have to be held accountable to get the point across. Kudos to Barnes.Nothing better for your confidence than the coach telling you that if you don’t take the shot, you won’t play. So many others get “you better make that or you won’t play.”
I honestly think the best way to help Chaz is other players scoring, teams thus far have tried to focus on him. Last night ZZ, Dubar & Gainey took advantage late in the game by beating their 1 on 1s.
I think that is way off and a misread of what Barnes was saying. He was not sitting Chaz for performance, he was telling him keep taking the open shots, that is why we you are here. Sitting Nico would have done nothing but kill his confidence and lessen the number of snaps he sees going in to next year. Had he been benched multiple times as you suggested when our biggest problems were on O line that was often horrible and wide receivers who absolutely cannot create separation then not only would Nico likely being playing against us next year but you would also see us drop off the list of top QB future recruits as well as Brandon going somewhere else. Good thing coach is not aa impulsive and in need of immediate gratification as some of our fans.
