Game thread: #11 Lady Vols host Georgia. Sunday, March 2, Noon ET, SECN

If we win two I'll get back to you otherwise it is not happening. All the other teams are playing too some will lose games so you can move up
We're not that far down now but of course losing either of next two probably makes us a six
Right. You have to look at the big picture. Although it seems unlikely that we will get to host, several teams that are also possible 4 and 5 seeds keep losing as well. Kansas State, for example, has lost 3 games recently. There were times during the year that it looked extremely bleak that the UT football team would get into the playoffs, but they did. All kinds of teams in every sport lose when the stakes are high at the end of the year. You never know until all the games have been played.

I'm saying our deep defender has been putting herself in no man's land. Better to force the ball to the receiver of your choice, and force the 2nd pass to the player most within range of our next deepest defender. More passes, more chances of an error.

I think you answered your own question: why would the coaches repeat what hasn't worked? The only logical reason is because the players haven't done it as designed. The coach who knows this best wasn't seeing a failure of concept, but of execution. IMHO
Exactly!! We are running a run and jump man to man press. Need to run a dedicated 1-2-1-1 and run it right. It works. Pat Summit ran it pretty well back in the day!

B) We mostly have one in the post and other teams are attacking the post and employing a weakside cutter for a dish-option...one post can not cover two players

and E) can't say much more, but I can say the obvious: we have many attacking the paint into a 1 on 2-3 situation and not looking for a kick-out pass to an open shooter....instead opting to force a late in the clock heave

And except for Cooper and every now and then Ruby,,, no one else has a midrange game
For next year do you think Civil or Prawl have a mid-range?

I’m no guru but my answer is E, I think this team is missing that one go to player, as an example I’ll use Rickea. This is the type of supporting cast Rickea needed around her to compete for a Championship. I do have other things to say but I’ll leave it at that.
Wouldn’t you love to have seen Rickea give this a shot!

Big difference between the SEC foes and the first two rounds of the NCAA foes,,,,BIG difference
Maybe not as good as the SEC's top 4, but every bit as good as the rest of the league. So you don't think the 5 seeds(that's us as a #4 and that's in doubt) wouldn't be as good as 5-9 in the SEC? If we're below a 5 seed then your playing a 2 or 3 to make S16 and they are as good as our top 4 . What's your take on that?

If they don't,,,I know a skills expert who can give it to them

I am more familiar with Civil's repertoire and she has a vg pull up jumper

"jumper",,,,there's that word again

I think the style and physicality of the SEC is unique and much more difficult than most other conferences,,,no matter what their seeds are

Bad loss for sure but ask Bama fans about losing to Louisiana-Monroe in Nick Saban’s first year. Not comparing Kim to Saban but weird stuff can happen in a coach’s first year. Give her some to adapt and adjust.
...the very next week Saban beat #4 ranked Tennessee.

A lot of really interesting commentary in this thread, so thanks to all who’ve contributed. I agree with (and have learned from) so much of what’s been said.

I’ve wondered but have been somewhat hesitant to ask if others feel like some of the more hot & cold personalities on the team might be hitting a rough patch at the same time. It’s totally subjective, but we’ve seen Coop, Spearman, Puckett, and Whitehorn (and maybe others) go through some spells where they seem a bit off, and if they all hit a mental rut at the same time, obviously that wouldn’t be great.

It seems almost unfair to ask, but I’m just searching for ways to make sense of the team kinda falling off a cliff. It’s a long, draining season, so it’s understandable that it comes with ups and downs, especially with a first-year coach. Y’all are welcome to roast me!

I said they played terrible to, but they haven't always at least half or more of the time they score their average. Tess is up and down. Puckett and Jill don't have much of an average for the entire season. So if you want to go there Tess,Sarah, and Jill come in with 47 minutes on average for the season. Points scored 15 a game should be more like 22 so not real bad, but lately they haven't been doing anything close to even 15. Whitehorn, Spencer, Spearman, Cooper, and Spear our best five for the season 55 points per game on average playing 118 minutes. That is where they need to be and against Georgia was not even close.
The point being if they don't do it we don't have any backups that are going to make up the difference when they fail. Next season we will. I know you don't like to hear it but the Pauldo twins, Civil, and Prawl are much more talented than Tess, Jill, Sarah, and Ace it is just a fact that is true.
i not best speller but why are you putting SARAH INSTEAD OF SARA? Think i seen you spell Sara name more than once like that. no pot stir just asking?
