Game Thread: SEC Tournament Second Round. #18/14 Lady Vols (9 seed) vs. Vandy (8 seed). Thurs., March 6, 11 am ET, SECN

Can Prawl and Civil shoot the three at an average clip? I haven’t read that about them like I have the twins and Hurst. From what I can tell, we have lots of drivers coming back for next year but not a lot of shooters. At least from what we have seen of the system this year, you really need almost everyone on the perimeter to be able to shoot on the kick outs from the drivers and that includes your posts and wings.
From what I have seen and heard Prawl is more like Whitehorn just a better shooter. Not really a three point star. Civil same more like Cooper gets in the passing lanes and gets to the rim. Hurst can shoot the three and at 6'3" would be a factor at the 3 or 4. The twins are exceptional three point shooters at least in high school. I think we need to pick up one three point shooter might need to be someboody willing to accept 15 minutes a game. Inside only Spearman and Latham are left we need to add two inside.

I can tell you haven't watched Deniya Prawl much. Whitehorn isn't on the same stratosphere as Prawl. Whitehorn has the experience but that's it.
Just meant similar styles like I stated Prawl is much better offensive player. She is an average three point shooter not a great one.

Looks like Civil was 32% on 3s this year on pretty decent volume: https://www.maxpreps.com/fl/melbour...SeasonId=751ce3ae-05eb-402f-bd9f-bf8a09bf342f

I'm not finding stats for Prawl, but when I looked a while back at her international stats playing for Team Canada, I recall her shooting being a little inconsistent.

Does anyone know if Tubner played a role as a shooting and/or player development coach at Alabama before coming here? The improvement in shooting from players like SAB and Nye have been really impressive.

I just saw Hurst is shooting 60% on FGs and 52% on 3s this season. I didn't realize she was that good of a shooter. Even if her competition quality isn't great, those are still great numbers!

I knew she was really good just didn't think it was that good. Hope she don't let us down and play volleyball.

I'd like to know why Whitehorn went from being a very good guard in the early season to being terrible lately. :( ditto for spear, spencer, etc.
She still has it if she had enough basketball IQ to quit driving into those double teams and getting tied up. She needs to pull up and shoot her mid range they are aware of that move she makes and know she is going for a layup. Her one on one play along with Cooper is killing the team. Neither want to pass and there would be a lot of open looks if they would.

I thought Ruby played a lot better in the 2nd half today but still felt like she was overthinking it once she got good looks and kept over/under-shooting it.

Last clip I saw she said Kim and the volleyball coach will work out her schedule, that tells me she will be a part time player since the seasons overlap.

I know many of you all have stated how fatigued and exhausted this team has looked and I agree. This last week or so has really seemed to take a tole on them.
I choose to believe these two weeks off can do wonders for them as they reset and get ready for the NCAAT.
Honestly, my one concern when Kim was hired would we keep the NCAAT streak alive and well. 42 years is something no other program can own. She got us there! The streak is alive and well. I am excited for the future and what she can do with her recruiting class and the returnees with a year under their belt and a year under hers in this whole new world of SEC hoops she's experienced. I expect adjustments will be made!

That would add a bit of pressure to KC and the decision DW made.
Really don't know what Auburn is planning to do or what their expectations are. That determines what type coach you hire. If they are willing to pay the big money and have a big Nil budget they can get that program moving upward. If they just want to win more than they lose and not put a lot of money into it then Harper is good choice. Any coach is dead meat down there if they are not going to support it with some NIL not going to win without the players. No longer going to be able to get many of the top players without NIL

It seems round of 32 may be limit for the LadyVols this year. Sweet 16 would be a BONUS! But, they are in the big dance at least.
True, that’s something a lot of other fans can’t say about their women’s programs. The Round of 32 would be acceptable and making the Sweet 16 would be awesome. Would be a lot easier to move on from some ugly recent games.

Shea just said the same thing Kenny B did. Prepped like hell the first game, didn’t have to near as much the second time. Said she knew everything we would do. Familiarity is not our friend.

We got outrebounded 42-34 and only had one more fg attempt than they did. Actually shot 47% but so did they. We were only 9-29 fm 3 to their 6-16. Our season will eventually end for want of a consistent 3 pt shooter.

LOL I’d hate to have to question Kim at the presser today! Talk about curt. I hope she just declines to answer rather than give the ultra tired effort speech again.

And y’all do whatever gets you through but this was not on the refs. Vandy was a better team w a better coach today
To be fair, you could say that about any team that plays another team for the second time. When my stomach settles I'll watch this game in more detail; but from quick recall, I wasn't at all surprised by anything Vanderbilt did, or tried to do. And, I doubt that Kim and Company were taken aback. Were you? Did you see any trick plays, or specialized defenses that might have thrown us off our game? All I saw was poor-to-very-poor execution on our part - careless passes, bad decisions in general, and as you have often, rightly stated ...just dreadful marksmanship.

I'm with you on the whining about officiating; that can appear weak on our part. But I think it's fair to say that a particular player was given a lot of leeway with her style of play. So, while I wouldn't blame this loss on the officiating, I certainly didn't see the loss as a coaching mismatch. They played better, and, more troubling, going forward, they out rebounded us. And, fair or not, they got to the free throw line more. We have a lot of things to work on.

Love reading your posts.

Cheers.

But Kim doesn’t have a consistent starting lineup, she switches it up almost every game, I think some games Mya will start and other Mia will start.
She starts who played the best in the previous game so have a bad game won't start. I think the point is Mia and Boyd that could change might want Cooper to play there. I thought Coach said Mia would be the starting point guard from day one way back there when she was first recruited.

CKC has said repeatedly to anyone that listens (today as well) that Boyd is the future of the program. Watch her pressers, including todays.

On what she's learned about Kaniya Boyd

She's the brightest part of our program right now. I've said it before, she's the future. She's out here having fun. She pushes. She plays hard. She's a dog. That's what we want in our program, we want dogs. I think she is the leader of that.
