NCAA Tournament Game Thread - (4) Ohio State vs (5) Lady Vols

Typical Ohio State reaction. I would rather beat them than any other team this year since we have already taken down Connecticut. We have to also appreciate AD White for his ability to run our Athletic Department. Few of us ever dreamed this could happen this quickly.

Just don’t say “everything school”, that gets a few here on edge.

Yesterday made up for a lot of the bad moments this season. A sweet 16 is a nice accomplishment any season. But especially for this team, they could have phoned it in after the last two weeks of the season, but they came back out ready to fire.

This was another big win for recruiting. Ohio State is a team we have oft competed for recruits with. Good to get one over on them, fun being the only team to hand them a home loss this season. If we manage an Elite Eight berth I suspect that may sway a couple 2026 recruits our way. We’re definitely the team on the rise right now.

Everyone talking about what we are losing but really we are brining back a great core. Jewel and Sam are the only players we really need to replace, and we have with our 2025 class. If we can get one really good scoring guard and one talented post from the portal we are going to be dangerous.

Coop, Ruby and Zee have been our core all season, returning them and building around them puts us in the drivers seat for next season. Most excited to get a really quality 5 player like Williams or similar. Being able to play Zee at the 4 more would be awesome.

LV took the belt out on the road, nationally televised game with a loser leave town (season over) on the line. Big equity game for the staff in recruiting and a statement to the Cambridge sisters who decided to leave the state.

I've disagreed with you on this before. Bruce Pearl stays hard on the refs and oftentimes it comes back to bite him. Kim is in constant conversation with the refs. She's building reputation with them without humiliating them. It may not pay off each game, but WILL pay off eventually and regularly.

I've been in the game for a very long time and both dealt with and befriended refs on every level...the world has changed as has the game itself, and I with it....But I still have my hard-fast lessons and one of which is refs, either, want to be left alone or look for a way to be confronted,,,the most successful coaches are the ones who can read them individually and per game,,,and can Chameleon into either persona

Hurst can shoot need to see more of her game to determine how much she will help. Wynn is back can defintely fill in the minutes of one of the graduating players. We need at least one center. We could go for two post players and that would be 15 players. I don't think we will see Edie, or Ace leaving and I don't think Coach Kim will ask them to do so. So our portal is two players and I see the need for inside players more than any other position.

Kim had said that they had played a gauntlet of top teams at the end of the season, and they were exhausted. They rest, and go back to scoring a hundred, and beating teams that hadn't lost on their home court in a year. This is working and I love it.

I do think we take one guard and one post from the portal. I’m excited about the freshman but if there is a veteran scoring guard who is a proven scorer/three point shooter I don’t see us passing up the opportunity to add some veteran leadership there.

we do not need a guard unless one better than Boyd and the wonder twins arises (doubtful) and Wynn will need time to develop back to where she was. (( I watched her during pre-game warmups and at the end of the season her limp was still very noticeable,,,that said she in no way could have been working on her game during her time sidelined))...two mobile 6'3"+ PF's is my suggestion

As exciting as this team is to watch they take you on such a wild roller coaster ride. I had to change the channel there in 2nd half when OSt went on that run to keep my blood pressure down but when they win it is such a high.

Agree with you but would like to see them get two 6-6 inch agile players who can run like gazelles ,average 20 points and 20 rebounds per game .....each ......

My reasoning was we are a sizing up persona 1Q team basically every game adjusting to the team and the quick subs hard to get rhythm up to speed immediately. Our system is built to tire the team down and be on an upward curve whilst they, per the system will be trending down. I thought OSU came out too hyped and spent way too much energy in the first 5 minutes and it came back to bite them physically and mentally. I think by halftime they were over their average TOs a game.

Have been really impressed how this team never seems to get down at getting behind by double digits. I'm sure they are not but its almost like they are purposely letting the other team tire themselves out and then its their turn.

The young ladies looked very refreshed after getting some R&R last week or so. They got their legs back and running 120mph again.

Kim said after the game that this was the hardest the team played all season, too. They really, really wanted this and it showed. It felt like we beat Ohio State to almost every 50-50 ball - and there were a lot of those.

Yeah she had a lot to say last night, that’s for sure. She had so much potential coming into college but I feel like she has regressed. I loved her motor as a freshman and she has lost that edge. Especially on defense and rebounding.

She is an LSU or North Carolina type player. She would be a great get for UNC to replace Utsby. With her athleticism she should be a pro but needs to go somewhere that will help her improve her rebounding and round out her game.
