Ok fine, I’ll actually do some analysis since I’ve been so rudely called out. Multiple factors to consider here. First off, under any circumstances it would be obvious that I’m for Tennessee, but…
1. First off, while I’ve enjoyed this season of Lady Vol bb from afar (especially the win over UConn and that charlatan Geno), in reality I couldn’t name a single player from the Lady Vols (or Texas for that matter, editor’s note: really just because I’m already sports saturated, have no problem with women’s athletics). Also, my sons aren’t really Lady Vol fans because they are 11-13 year old cavemen with underdeveloped noggins at this point. If I mention a good result they would probably roll their eyes (I know, cavemen)
2. Texas is ranked 5th in the country and seems to have a realistic chance at winning a title. If we’re being honest, the Lady Vols’ chance of winning it all is less realistic.
3. On the other hand, I have appreciated Kim Caldwell’s story. She took a giant leap into the cauldron this year and has handled it with aplomb. Have to say that she is easy to root for and the future certainly looks bright. An added benefit is that KC doing well further solidifies Danny White’s credentials in hiring top coaches, which allays my fears about the future, particularly with another basketball coach heading toward the golden years.
Ok, that’s it, point 3 takes it. Do I say go Vols or go Lady Vols?
