Kennedy Chandler was undeniably talented. But I’d take the intelligence and leadership of a Jordan Bone Or a Zakai Ziegler all day every day.
I will take a guy who shoots 60% from the three point line . To see many of those. With today's portal being what it is, I rather go after the veteran guys. It seems to me that it's almost not worth going after HS kids too much. They stay a season and then leave. Look at that 7 foot kid at SDSU. Guy was a 0 star and now he's leaving and is probably going to go to UK or some bs like that
If I had a 2nd kidney, I'd bet it that Barnes is coming back. I'd bet the one kidney I have but I already promised it to any family member of a current Vol bball player who needs a kidney if they make the final 4.Not sure, but this makes me feel Barnes is going to be around next year despite any rumors to the contrary.
I don’t think Bone was more intelligent or a better leader than Chandler. It took him 3 years to grow into a reliable player and leader, where Chandler was the best player on the team from day 1. Ziegler came off the bench because of Chandler.Kennedy Chandler was undeniably talented. But I’d take the intelligence and leadership of a Jordan Bone Or a Zakai Ziegler all day every day.
He’s old. He may not want to do this forever. The game has changed from what he spent 40 years doing. He has plenty of reason to want to retire, even if he has shown he is still capable of running a good program. No reason for Barnes to retire. He can keep going for several more years. He has support from strong admin., awesome fan support, great facilities, and great stafff getting the players we need to run his system.
I think he having the time of his coaching career. Plus, he likes being at Tennessee. I think he will be here another 3-4 years. I hope he does. However, I don’t worry about a replacement if he would happen to say he is ready. Because our A D will find another really good replacement. I am sure he has a list in his pocket if/when it occursHe’s old. He may not want to do this forever. The game has changed from what he spent 40 years doing. At some point, family and life become more important with the money he has. Most everyone strives to retire, and this is a demanding job.No reason for Barnes to retire. Good, very good, great, elite, however you want to describe it, the point stands that if he is thinking of hanging them up, there are a lot of reasons why he may feel that way. But he still appears to have plenty left in the tank if he wants to keep going too.Not a good program, a great one. Hall of fame coach.
Everyone is taking that one quote of his about ZZ Im a way different than what he meant, I think. Now, all sorts of “rumors of Barnes” retiring headlines are out there, some by media people trying to act like they’ve heard something or know something. I don’t think they do, I think people are using that one line about ZZ(which to me seems like him saying ZZ helped reinvigorate him and his love for coaching) and running with it.Barnes said in the pre UCLA presser that he'd like to schedule a home and home with the Bruins going forward. That doesn't sound like a guy who's got one foot out the door to me.
I feel the same. He's doing what he obviously loves absolutely. Isn't that what most people want to do when they retire anyways?I think he having the time of his coaching career. I'm guessing you're in the Richmond area too. Not sure why I would flame away when what you said is most likely true. My wife used to coach girls basketball in the area, and it wasn't uncommon to see an opposing coach (not JM, but I'd say the girls equivalent) recruiting the other team's best player after the game, like right in their own gym. And that was years ago, so I'm sure it's even more blatant now.JM recruits players better than any college program. It's basically a high school portal school. Have zero respect for that school and what they represent. Flame away![]()
Not close to Richmond area, but it's difficult for an 2A(small class) team to compete against a school that can beat any school in the state. No disrespect for the kid but the process. Hope it doesn't translate to the college level.I'm guessing you're in the Richmond area too. Not sure why I would flame away when what you said is most likely true.
