2025 Transfer Portal

Relying on freshmen to grow within a program is no longer a thing. The way the portal is set up freshmen don’t last 4 years at one school anymore. Veryyyy rare will that happen going forward imo as well.
If anyone it's getting the playing time or the money they Think they deserve yeah they will hit the portal. Free Agency now in all sports. The way CKC plays 10-12 players you can prove your worth at have the chance. You know who she trusts with 2 minutes to go in a close game.

I know it has been said already, but I reeeeeaaaallllly wish the portal weren't opened until the day after all the post-season tournaments are over. It's ridiculous that there are 16 coaching staffs in the NCAA tourney (don't know how many are still in the WNIT and WBITs) who are having to prepare their current teams for their biggest stretch of games of the season, yet are having to be dealing with the portal as well. Coaches still coaching should be rewarded, not stretched even thinner, for still being alive in the tournaments.

The NCAA and WBCA should decide together to rework the portal schedule.

Taurasi, when being recruited (a long time ago) stated she wanted to be coached by a male, as one response for not coming to the LVs.

fast-forward - without question decisions on preference of "type" of coach is one consideration that a young teenager takes into her decision. I only ask you to assess the diversity, a term no longer allowed by the President. It is a interesting breakdown with now only two males. Ole Miss coach, McPhee-McCuim, a favorite personality of mine since her first press conference after losing by 80 her first year. Recruiting is definitely difficult given the resources available but those who come are attracted to her (type). Wonder the what-ifs if they were to beat UCLA re recruiting.

Somebody run this through chatGPT and give me the cliff notes…..geeze.

Lol the top incoming freshmen class is an asset and that’s the bottom line. The transfer portal was good to Coach Caldwell last spring and she just stated in an interview that her focus is on the S16 while her staff handles recruiting. She mentioned how it’s an advantage to still be playing in March Madness and having these portal transfers that have interest watch Tennessee. CKC will land the post players she wants and along with the elite incoming freshmen this coach is poised to build a dominant team in 2025-2026 potentially coming off a Natty in year 1!
CKC is GBO ‘solid’!

Watching Duke/UNC and I just realized that Ciera Toomey has totally fallen out of the rotation for UNC. She was the #4 recruit in 2023, redshirted last season, and has barely gotten minutes after looking pretty good (I thought) in their non-conference games (e.g., vs. UConn). Haven't heard anything but wonder if she could hit the portal - definitely a mobile big who likes to shoot 3s.

As I type this, she checks into the game for the first time (but only because it seems Gakdeng might be hurt).

Hope this helps...

The race and gender of a team's coach can affect their recruiting. If a player wants, say, a male or black head coach and wants to play in the SEC that player's choices might be limited. There are other personal factors about a coach that might also affect a player's preference. Coaches are aware of this and usually try to balance their staffs accordingly.

UConn, for example, has a head coach known for being a hard-ass that will dress down a player in front of others, but the associate head coach has a reputation as a well-loved mother-hen like figure that always intercedes on the players' behalf. And there'll always be at least one prominent black assistant on the staff. Head coaches can't change their gender, race, or sexual orientation, but they can work to provide an environment that will appeal and be welcoming to all players. And the most successful coaches and programs always do.

I think she’s portaling for sure. She has been interacting with our pages and fans since like December. Seems to be a fan of coach Kim. Not sure we would pursue her if we can attack some of the more proven posts. She can stretch the floor though which is nice.

So they aren’t going after Cotie or Latson!

tell that to south car
So Caroline gets top recruits where can you go as an upgrade if you leave South Carolina? Teams like Them And UConn ND USc won’t have that freshmen problem for the most part when it comes to impact freshmen because of the stage their own. Players that do leave will bc of playing time ala talaysia cooper & Saniya rivers / Jah

I wouldn't dream of playing for a staff who didn't have a deep affection for Celtic and old-time mountain music.
