I've not been following this story, so I have no bias one way or another. I just know that in any controversial, breaking story, THE TRUTH will be elusive and more money will be made off of speculation, innuendo, and half-truths.

For whatever it's worth, here's today's interview with Will West of 99.1 The Sports Animal, offering what he's been able to learn:

He is absolutely wrong. It's all about money and has been since the winter. He proydoes want more help, but the bigger factor is the money.

I call BS. If that’s all it was they would’ve said that up front. They didn’t. They saw the backlash and wanted to save face. The fans have every right to be pissed. There’s fans that are struggling to pay bills right now and they still donated to spyre because they wanted to see him suit up in Orange. They wanted him to be a part of this team and now he has the audacity to say “no this 8 million ain’t enough. I’m gonna need 4 more million”?? Especially after a subpar performance this past year. Either way the fans have already turned on him. Theres no going back. A train doesn’t run on a torn up track.

Well Will West, that’s a load of bs if I’ve ever heard it. Also, maybe if Nico wasn’t getting 8 million we could use some of that money on other players. My goodness, you’ve got a scholarship to play football at one of the best universities in the country with everything pretty much paid for. Do you really need millions of dollars right now?

There will be some kind of backlash if he shows up to O&W game tomorrow….BOOs will probably be louder than JGs…

One of favorite quotes,
"Its not all of them, but it is always them!"

Its not ALL about the money, but it is about the money.

Then Nico would be asking for less money where more money could be spent on WR and OL. He would be saying he wants to take less to improve the team and TN and Nico’s PR team would be making sure every sports outlet wrote that story to make him look good.

I hope not, he's been everything we should hope for from a future VFL since he's been here. He just needed 1 more season under his belt before he could puff his chest out and ask for more money.

Will West doesn’t know beans from buckshot. His commentary isn’t worth shyte.

It's $2 million a year. It'll cost more to get another P4 caliber out of the portal if they go that direction. Regardless of this situation, we aren't ponying up money to be an elite football program.

This smells like Nico’s team (or father because apparently “Team” is a foreign concept to them) is trying to spin some damage control because this hasn’t gone quite like they tried to play it out.

He will still get rich, but hopefully they get a dose of reality after this and watch that fade away from the greed & extortion they tried to pull here. Calling coaches to gauge interest and value should have been the first clue to anyone paying attention.
