Very clearly compared to last year we don't have a dead spot on the roster like shooting guard last year. We also have all transfers who've played and produced at D 1 level with a lot of guys playing in ACC. The ceiling and floor for next years team is much higher compared to last off season. Team being able to pick up the defense and meshing together a major variable.
His best bet for the future is to coach soccer and make a career of his mastery of injury simulation. Not to defend them, but I do get how it's tough on players who may have wanted to stay, to get forced out and then hear about upgrades. It's the way it is, but the human side of me gets how one could be salty about it. It is what needed to happen, and I'd be salty too if I was gonna have to play for Maryland next season.
That's a question for you.The only real question is what will we get from the five.
For sure and neither are a known quantity as Okpara was last year.I don’t think we have a “dead spot” but I do think there are reasonable questions about Rubin and Lue and how that will translate to the P4. You kind of need them both to hit and not be busts if you don’t want the front court to be a glaring weakness.
Assume you mean Tennessee beating Kansas not sure. But i say the five is the only question mark because we don’t really no what to expect. We could have a double double guy. We could just have platoon guys that combine for good numbers. That's a question for you.
I have a scenario for anyone:
One Tennessee team was comprised of a 6'7" Center, a 6'4" PF and a 6'10" guy coming off the bench.
The other team had an elite front line - 6'10" Center, 6'11" PF and a 6'9" SF.
That Tennessee frontline's NBA combined careers - Zero years, zero games.
That other team's frontline's NBA combined careers - 45 years....and counting.
These teams played twice. What do you suppose the outcome was?

I was fine with Bishops play for the most part as he played his role. Offensively though, just too limited. He cannot come off a pin down, elevate and get his shot off with what he requires to get set and shoot with little elevation. He cannot consistently iso his man and take him off the dribble. Of course he can work on those to improve, but a short SG needs to be able to do one or both. There is a chasm between what Bishop and his family believe his offensive ceiling/ability is, and what Barnes and staff believe it is.
This is not weird, uncommon or unique. Plenty of players and parents are this way. It’s normal.
The part that is bad form is to go on social and do crap like this. In only reflects poorly on them.
This. BB did as best as he could. Tremendously improved from year one. Maybe he gets better in year 3, but likely he’s limited on offense.I was fine with Bishops play for the most part as he played his role. Offensively though, just too limited. I think he at least met my expectations, and may have a bit more room for improvement. By the end of the year, I think he became a competent player who simply needs to continue to work hard, especially on offense.This. BB did as best as he could. Tremendously improved from year one. Those crapping on his defense …. Dunno what to tell you. The guy earned his deal with Maryland by playing very good defense all season. He didn’t get nearly the respect he deserved from the zebras. He had some bad turnovers and dumb fouls but overall far exceeded what I expected from him.
A 7’1 freshman doesn’t give me confidence. Just my opinion. It’s better than nothing though. We get our bigs in foul trouble and small ball will be our game at that point
Brown isn’t a rim protector. Points per game at the center isn’t what I’m worried about. It’s the rim protector that can cover defensive mistakes and discourage a guard from trying to finish at the rim.Honestly not too worried about if we have to go small ball.
If I remember correctly, Houston made the National Championship with a 6’8 center.
Throw Brown at Center and call it a day. Similar size to J’Wan Roberts as well.
Roberts: 6’8, 235
Brown: 6’8, 250
Roberts averaged 10 and 6 playing 30 minutes
Brown averaged 5 and 3 playing 14 minutes. I believe per 40 is kinda similar…I’d have to go back and look to be honest.
