I know saying this will get me flamed being as I should support an SEC team in the National Championship Game, but I just hate Alabama so much. I just can't bring myself to cheer for them.

The fact that kicking cost us a victory against the Tide doesn't help any.

Hope this doesn't offend. GO VOLS!

Why would you pull for any other SEC team?!! Do you think Alabama winning the NC reflects well on us? No! They are the ones that will have the trophy in their case, not us. Do you think USC fans, Oregon fans, etc say "ooh, Tennessee is in the SEC and since Alabama won the NC and they are too, Tennessee must be a good team. Um, no. Not to mention the recruiting edge it gives Bama against us when they can flash that NC ring to any and all recruits that we are fighting for. Going for them is just plain stupid, not to mention traitorous. We hate Bama and we don't cheer for them under any circumstances if you are a real fan.

I want the SEC to win, but I will not cheer for Bama. Let them have their 13th National Championship and place it next to the other...6?

Go Texas/TCU for sure. No way do I want to see any retarded "Got Thirteen?" shirts being printed and sold.

I think a part of cheering for the SEC is simply because somehow most of the commentators come from different conferences, and honestly I can't stay to hear Holtz slobber about ND and Mark May about pretty much everyone but SEC (those are only two of many)...

I will cheer for the SEC because I think it's the hardest conference in the country, and I think we deserve respect...I think it does help us along the way as well, because while other conferences are stacked with mediocrity, we have very view lower tier teams.

Anywho - just my $.02

Bama and FL are the Exception. You pull for the SEC if it's LSU, AUBURN, GA, or anybody else. Screw bama and fl i'm not pulling for them in anything. As one of the above posters stated

IT'S US AGAINST THEM, VOLS FANS SHOULD WANT BAMA AND FL TO FAIL.

That's just the thing, WE, as in Tennessee, aren't getting the respect. OUR RIVALS ARE. No one cares what conference the National Champion is in. All that matters is that they won and that means they have the respect and they get the recruits. Period. This reasoning is ridiculous. I will never understand why anyone roots for a rival and somehow thinks by them winning it makes us look good.

Because it helps in the long run with the preception of our conference. Strong conference means the recruits want to play in the SEC; the schedules are considered tougher; and money from sponsors, TV, and bowls flow more.

If Boise State or other schools in that conference were to win the NC title every year, all teams in the SEC would suffer. Just as when the SEC continues to win NC titles; teams in other conferences suffer.

Yeah gotta pull for whoever Alabama plays. Don't wanna listen to them in their fans celebrate a "13th" national championship

I don't think it matters anymore. SEC is king and has been for some time. If bama loses the NC i don't think the SEC loses any respect.

and most of all, keep the Heisman out of Ingram's hands somehow.

I want Colt McCoy to get it, but Nebraska is killing his offense at the moment...

You're probably right if Bama loses and a different SEC school wins it next year. But, what if Bama loses it and then the SEC doesn't get back for several years or gets back and loses it again? See the Big Ten for your answer. It doesn't take long for preceptions to change.

I think the Big Ten is well out of the running for a good while now. It needs to stay that way.
