Would it be smart business solution to let Dooley go now? Make Sam Pittman and Jay Graham co-interims. If that happen would fans return to Neyland without the bitter taste of Dooley and knowing change is coming?:peace2::peace2:

It won't happen, but it would be a good move. UT is bordering on losing the fan base (again). If yesterday's turnout was any indication, they may already have.

I think if Jay were named interm they may pick up a few more fans in the stands. I for one am enjoying the cheap ticket prices and good weather. I took a family of 5 to game yesterday for $20.00 and that was for parking.

Except piss off boosters, lose money (lots of it) and alienate the loyal.

The season is done. He needs to find another coach behind the scenes. The masses will be screaming for Dooley's head when he loses to Vandy or Mizzou. Better for Hart to be patient and allow the outrage to build.

Nope. Hart has no reason to fire early. Does nothing for him.

And what are the benefits of waiting? You will have to fight in the coaching market and chances are you would be stuck with Dooley for another year. The sad thing is this man makes more in one game than many of us do in 10 years.

Would be for the fan base. But that may not necessarily be good for the team and the hiring of the next coach. They are going to keep losing a lot of money for the last two home games by waiting. They have their rationalizations about it I guess. I just don't see where the next two wins are going to come from. I understand there's hope against UK. But Mizzou and Vandy? They actually have defenses that will stop our O some. Our D turns every QB we play against into Peyton. They could win out if they score enough, but the other D's will not be as bad as Troy.

I think the best action is to hire first and then fire dd. My opinion only and I realize what I have to say carries no bearing on what Hart does. Maybe even announce the hire and allow dd to finish the regular season out and hand the reighns over to the new guy for the bowl, if we are to qualify for one.

Whatever, just fire doolander!!!!

Just because he has not fired Dooley yet does not mean he isn't courting his new coach. Firing Dooley right now does nothing for the search.

I disagree a little I think that by firing Dooley you give the fans hope for a better future and few more may turn out to games.

And if they fail to win out will everyone be after teh interm coaches head. Wait until the season is over.

Everyone knows Dooley is done. No reason to keep it behind the scenes any longer

Recruits are watching the product on the field. Everyone knows there SHOULD be a coaching change. IMO, everyday Hart waits we take a chance on another recruit going elsewhere. Just because some fans are willing to ride it out and wait for a new coach to be named in late December or early January does not mean recruits will. Another month and a half of this unstable mess and kids not knowing if we have a lame duck coach coming back will cost us big time in the end. As other schools start to fill up, recruits will have to choose sooner rather than later. IF Hart knows he is canning Dooley, announce it now and let the fanbase/players/recruits know that UT will have a proven winner coaching next season.

I normally don't pay attention to people's avatars but I just casually glanced over at yours and spit up my coffee. Thanks for making my morning and you owe me a new computer.

I'm not going back until he's fired. I know several ticket holders doing the same.

I would have been at the Troy game had Dooley been fired. All 40+ season ticket holders who are in our section would have been there had Hart already made the decision. Your right, alot of people would be willing to return and pay out the cash if they feel Hart is doing what is best for this football program.

Those tickets are already paid.

No - it wouldn't have any impact. If you named Vince Lombardi interim coach it wouldn't have any impact on this years crowd at the stadium.

Defensive struggles aside - those who chose not to attend yesterday missed one of the best games ever for offensive fireworks, and a classic back and forth cliffhanger. It really was entertaining. Not what we wanted to see but it was a very entertaining game.

Yes they are. I would think when you have 35-40,000 people show up to a game...alot of cash is spent on "other things" besides the tickets. What does 80,000 hot dogs and 40,000 cokes come to? Programs, shirts, hats, all kinds of things. Especially us folks who come from out of state. We tend to spend quite a bit when we get back to Knoxville and can stock up on things to show love for our Vols. Alot of us season ticket holders like to send UT a check every so often to show UT we want to help. We like to make a difference when we can. It's not so easy to do that when the product on the field is as bad as it is. You may think it is just some "tickets that have already been paid for". Trust me, it is a hell of alot more than that.
