Wouldn't it be cheaper to let Sal go and find a D coordinator that knew what the hell he was doing? The O is fine we just need DEFENSE more than a new coach. Just a thought. :loco:

Jon Hoke - pay him as much as Dooley

While Tenn may not be a good situation for a new HC to walk into, it is a great situation for a DC with a great offense and a defense giving up 721 y/g this month

Seems like cleaning the D side of the Ouse is where we need to start!!!! No one of that side of the house seems to have a clue. We also look like we need to be a lot stronger up front. Can't remember the last time we had a sack of a QB!!!!!!

I think the defense is just trying to do way to much. Hopefully Dooley will settle it down a little bit before the MIZZOU game. If not I agree something needs to be done.

If we can't find a big name coach to replace Dooley and he returns for 2013 something needs to be done on defense. If Sal could just show any kind of improvement over these last 3 games then maybe he survives another year. Moving Sal to the box might help and giving more play call responsbility to Josh Conklin could benefit the defense too.

Agreed...i personally would like to see corey miller playing a lil more...great pash rusher. if we cant stop the run then might as well just pass rush to prevent air bombs over our CB's and SS's

Fire Dooley and hire a Defensive minded head coach. Keep Sal as LB coach with current contract. That is if you want to go cheap. I hope TN blows the hold thing up and goes after a Big Name Head Coach.

If Bray, Hunter and CP leave...we no longer have a "great" offense...IMO

Dooley Haters are just going to hate and say he is a lousy coach period. In reality, he has done a heck of a job improving our talent position and if anybody remembers how bad our offense was when he first took over (Simms at QB, thanks Kiffen), then you have to admit they have done a great job improving that.
I think with the right hire at DC, Dooley can absolutely be a winning coach and improve our defense as well.

I agree our offense is loaded with NFL caliber players atm but the recruiting hasn't been keeping up. Dooley is never going to recruit well enough to keep both sides of the ball stocked with talent. Those who think we just need to fix the defense are being very short sighted.

Stats don't lie my friend. The 0-14 against ranked teams chaps my a$$ more than anything. When you're signature win is against NC State, you've got a problem.

That Kiffin guy took less talent on offense and managed to beat the #21 team at home in SC and lost by two to Bama at Bama. Oh, and that was his year zero too ;)

Fella's a DC change is likely not happening unless they clean house totally. The reason we wont make a change is 1 Sal was hired by Hart. 2 No quality DC is going to come in unless he knows that he will be retained if the HC is fired. Thats the reason we ended up with Sal in the first place. Like stated a billion times now. They should have just promoted LT.

Bray, Hunter and CP are not ready for the NFL. They need another year to improve their stock. As far as Coaching, DD will be the HC at UT in 2013. New DC most likely. That is the cheapest route. Reason for my thoughts is due in part of some real disturbing news come out about Cheeks. From what I gather he could not give a rats ass about UT Sports more less UT football. The firing needs to start with Cheeks and on down. **** flows down hill. JMO

Here is what Titans coach Mike Munchak said on Sunday......and I also think it applies to Derek.

Asked if the poor performance might cost a player or an assistant coach his job, Munchak shifted the focus to himself.

“I think that’s decided at the end of the year,” he said. “If a team underperforms, I’m the first guy you should look at for that, not anybody else, not assistant coaches. It starts with me. If we don’t finish this season the way it should, then what needs to happen will happen. Sure it starts with me. I’m the head coach.”
