Amazing the bashing before he even coaches a game....

I hear ya... It's funny, he's doing exactly what we hired him to do (shake things up, provide a new direction), but now that he's actually doing it..... go figure.

I do not think we could possiblity have had any expectations. I have no idea what excuses he could make when I feel he has already met reasonable expections by filling out a staff and getting into the top three of players that weren't even giving us a fifth look a month ago.

So what are the expectations. Top 5 class is overreaching in expectations and a top 10 class would be very high at this point. I would think that if we land 15th or better he will exceed expectations.

22-16 would be reasonable.

Bottom line its all a paper drill anyway and its what you do with what you got is all that really matters. He has identified his needs and we will see what the season holds for us. Next Years class and its recruitment is where we can set realistic expectations.

Still think there is some house cleaning in store for current players.

I don't think Kiffin and his assistants are miracle workers especially since they came late to the recruiting party, but I do have expectations (not unrealistically high) for the staff to close strong the next few days and at a minimum not have previously solid commits (e.g., Oku) defect at the last minute. I think a top 15 class would be great. However, I think Kiffin may be tempering expectations. I was actually surprised to read his quote given the confidence he's exuded in press conferences, interviews, etc. The tone is clearly different from his bragging about taking USC's RC, MSU's RC, Bama’s best recruiter and Auburn’s best recruiter.

Behind Miss State. That's pathetic.

They have 6 Juco commits....that's not pathetic. It's a numbers game. Why are some of these posters so dang negative? As stated before, Avg rank per commitment we are at 8th right now with that looking to improve on the 4th. Quality over quantity is the issue. Anybody doubting this staffs ability to recruit should go ahead and doubt the sun won't come up in the morning.

95% sure that DT would have ended up at End here so mentioning Nelson, King or Patrick doesn't really matter much.

I'm not so sure he would go to DE. If he did end up at DE then I think it is even less of a loss. Monte's D requires getting a lot out of the DL and I just wouldn't see him as ever being a starting DE here. Anything's possible, though.

But they finished 11-2, in the top 10, and nearly won the SEC championship. The point was valid, we've got to get stud linemen in here.

...and Utah went 13 - 0 and is widely regarded by some as the true national champion.

Big frame, filling it out (close to around 235 now), and not very fast to begin with.... DE all the way. There is a chance he could stay at MLB at OM but he is not near fast enough to play LB for Monte.

I'm more amazed by people's expectations and how quickly things go back and forth with some of our fans. One minute people are on a high from all the coaching hires and then they are upset about telling the former staff's recruits to look elsewhere. Then people get excited about the recruits we have coming in and the slightest hint or rumors about a big NSD and then start getting worried because we lose a couple of soft commits who had been sketchy for a while and drop in the rankings a bit.

Sounds perfect for a Big 10 LB. I forgot he ran a 4.7

You took the words right out of my mouth. I figured there's a reason UT hired Kiffin and I'm willing to watch him run the show. Come next season we can all be as judgemental as we like. But 'til then-Get In,Shut up and Hold On LOL.

Just saw what looked like 20 recruits and TN players walking around Neyland Stadium. A few UT players were hosting them, Berry, Richard, and Hardesty were the TN players that I could see. I could not really recognize any of the recruits except Marlon Brown, Marcus Hall, Eddie Lacy and Kendall Kelly. All of them seemed like they were having a great time.

All I can say is wait and see. I won't be disappointed if we don't get a top 10 class.
We can't do worse than last year!
