Trying to set things up so they can say "we told you they were dangerous" after they lose.

True, this is coach speak. Don't want to give the opponent any bulletin board material. However, Stoops has a burr under his saddle about the SEC so I expect he will want to make a statement in this game. I hope CBJ wants to do the same!

Butch said the same things before USU and ASU almost verbatim when referring to USU.

Saban said it about Florida Atlantic this past week. Miles said the same thing about Sam Houston St.

However, the reality is UT is a dangerous team. This won't be a stat game for OU.

I think Stoops has more respect for CBJ than he does for some of the top tier programs in the SEC. He doesn't make a "statement" by embarrassing a team that hasn't been to a bowl in 3 years. I think there is mutual admiration between these 2 staffs and I don't see Stoops risking his season to keep playing his starters if he gets a comfortable lead.

And for some reason I am not as concerned about this game being as hard to watch as the Oregon game last year.

They (OU) need to be complimentary as we do... Stoops also knows that we will have a better team next year when they come here.. Team will be much bigger on the DL and even faster

I would just love it for once a coach said about their upcoming opponent: "They're awful, and I'm looking forward to getting our 2nd and 3rd team some reps in the second half.....maybe before then".

I agree. I'd also like to see, just once, a player with nothing but green between him and a TD get blind sided by a referee. I mean the ref pick him up and plant him, then stand over him shaking his finger no. Just think it would be funny.

Yeah, Maybe just all coach talk. But lets think about this statement "Butch Jones is in his second season trying to turn around the Tennessee program after three seasons at Cincinnati—which included coaching the Bearcats to a near-upset of Oklahoma" The coaching staff brings a past game experience against OU.

The problem for UT fans is its been so long we FORGOT what a very good team looks like, hopefully we have a chance at the end of the game for a win.

" Yes, we're gonna wipe the floor with their ass. I don't care what they think. We're gonna come in there, kick babies, and crap on the lawn"

There is no doubt that Spurrier has wrestled with the thought of making these type of statements throughout his career.

This is coach speak.

OTOH, if I were in their shoes, I would consider UT a dangerous team. The Vols are a young team with good athletes playing good D while not turning the ball over. Expectations are low for UT. Oddsmakers are predicting a laugher. OU hasn't been tested this fall.

There's no reason they should not be confident but there is every reason to be concerned about overlooking UT.
