I think Stoops has more respect for CBJ than he does for some of the top tier programs in the SEC. He doesn't make a "statement" by embarrassing a team that hasn't been to a bowl in 3 years. I think there is mutual admiration between these 2 staffs and I don't see Stoops risking his season to keep playing his starters if he gets a comfortable lead.

And for some reason I am not as concerned about this game being as hard to watch as the Oregon game last year.

I think he'll run the score up as much as possible. 1) His disdain for the SEC is well noted. And 2) With the college football playoff starting this year, and Georgia and Alabama both looking like safe picks for selection, Big Game Bob will try to beat us by more points than Alabama and Georgia so that OU will look better by comparison for selection. They don't have many ranked opponents on their schedule, so this will be the measuring stick for them versus the other potential playoff picks.

True, this is coach speak. Don't want to give the opponent any bulletin board material. However, Stoops has a burr under his saddle about the SEC so I expect he will want to make a statement in this game. I hope CBJ wants to do the same!

Coach-speak; you got that right.
He'll stomp a mudhole in our a$$ if he can. I hope our guys understand that.
Better expect a little tussle or two in this game.
It could get real ugly if they lead at the end! :hi::eek:k:
GO VOLS!

We are a dangerous team this year. Any team that isn't ready to play us this year is going to he t beat. Even Alabama and Oklahoma. Let's hope Oklahoma is taking us lightly. It would be nice to come away with a win.

“They have a lot of good athletes. They’re not very experienced, some of them, but they’re dangerous.
“We have to worry about our execution, our preparation, but we have a lot of respect for Tennessee and the type of athletes they recruit and the guys they’re putting on the field.”

I heard a joke on the radio this morning and I thought it was kind of funny. The only way Tennessee wins is if OU sees an orange UT on their schedule and goes to Dallas insteadl (they play UT (texas) in dallas. giggity.

It's coach speak, but I do think the OU coaching staff realizes we pose a major threat with the playmakers we have at the skill positions. If OU's lines dominate like I think they will then the game won't be that close, but if our O-line can be somewhat effective and give Worley time to throw, then we have the ability to put up some points and keep the game competitive. North is dangerous, Pig is dangerous, Pearson would have been dangerous if healthy, Malone has big play potential like we saw in the spring game, and Croom is a tough matchup for smaller db's. On defense...AJ is an All-American, Maggitt is a big time prospect that needs to knock the rust off, Cam Sutton is dangerous, and JRM is playing at a high level. Bottom line is the Sooners realize we have some players that can have a big impact on a game. I just don't think we got the grit in the trenches to hang with OU at this point. Stoops and crew have to feel very confident, but I don't think they are taking us as lightly as some would think.

What EVERY coach says about an inferior team before they play them. Sad we are that team now, but next year hopefully we won't be.

Yep, Saban made Florida Atlantic or whatever patsy they played last week sound like the '85 Bears. The appropriate response from all Vol fans is to ignore or take with a salt lick block.
