‘22 TN C Handje Tamba

I got it. Like the Agatha Christie book And Then There Were None (after everyone died though).
Do u know what the title of that book was, when it was originally released in Britain ? It wasn't Ten Little Indians, which it was eventually changed to, the original title was a lot worse. Just a useless fact I learned today, reading "The Splendid and the Vile" by Eric Larson. Weird, how it came up, today

I think this is the first time in UT basketball history that UT has had two 7 footers in a recruiting class.
Nothing at all bad about having a +7’ coming in to let Traore or Udeh have a breather, even if he doesn’t develop as much as we hope.

I know, I was shocked, too. Didn't give a reason, just said, "The British version had the abysmal title " Ten Little ........ ", the third word being a crude term for blacks in common usage at the time in Britain and America". But, the crazy thing to me, is the book came up on VN, less than an hour after I read that particular chapter

Big Brother is watching ... always.

Saturday Down South is reporting:

Local prospect Handje Tamba commits to Tennessee, reclassifies to join Vols early
"Tennessee already had the No. 1 recruiting class in the Southeastern Conference for the 2021 recruiting cycle but Rick Barnes’ program just added another quality player to the group as 7-foot prospect Handje Tamba announced his commitment to the Vols on Tuesday.
That isn’t all, Tamba, who was scheduled to be a 2022 recruit, has reclassified to be a member of Tennessee’s 2021 signing class."

BOOM!

Hope for the best on this one. Not sure if there's some kind of package deal in play or what. Doesn't make sense to me when you can wait a year and see if he looks anything like an actual high level D1 recruit by then. Is someone else leaving I wonder?

No, we have two open spots, and no one can leave at this point, unless it is to go overseas as a pro. Transfer deadline and NBA deadline have passed.

Never a bad thing to have another 7-footer on the roster, IMO.

But doesn't it seem--purely from the fans' perspective--that people are almost always the most disappointed in their tallest big men?

The anatomical task of getting an adolescent human body to that size is so stressful on so many parts. The engineering involved to develop athletic skills within that body which has grown so rapidly... the fact that a young person that size can even run or play ping-pong should be a marvel.

Our expectations for big men easily become unreasonable.

At 7ft and 215lbs, I don’t see him sniffing the court in year 1. Maybe by year 2, but it’s going to take a while to get him to a D1 ball body.

I don't think the plan is for him to play this year at all. He's going to have plenty of time to develop his body and his skills with a redshirt year. Next year Fulky is gone, maybe another guy or two from the front court could be gone. We'll just have to see.
