Posted on Facebook, caught in Norris? I didn't know they had these.

There is no reason lamprey should be in Norris or the river systems. It has to have been introduced. What worthless puss would do this?

Mountain brook lamprey are little - 8 inches or less. The live in brooks and do not move into larger rivers. So, they wouldn’t mutate into larger critters that reside in Lake Norris.

Hypothetical story.
A friend of a friend is of Asian descent. His grandfather got sick so they bought some sort of fish to make a medical treatment. Before the live fish arrived the grandfather got better. So it’s now bad luck to kill the fish. I was told the grandfather was promised the fish would be released in a ceremony. I went. It was myself the grandchild and my friend. We may or may not have gone to the boat ramp at Soddy. He had a fish (carp I think) in the cooler. He took it out placed it in the water and bowed. The fish didn’t swim away so as soon as the guy cleared.....I drew and shot it.
I looked at the grandkid and said you let it go and I protected the environment. He didn’t look happy but since I just shot the fish and was still holding the gun he didn’t say much.
I’ve never see the grandkid again but my buddy loves to tell the story......if that had ever happened.

And snakeheads down here, though I've heard they're fun to catch
