⚽️ Tennessee Lady Vols Soccer

I see the transfer from Oklahoma Muriel Kroflin has been added to the fall roster.
She played in the spring but her name was left off until now.

The only player I’m not sure about is Kylie Finney. She transferred from Baylor and played in the spring here in Knoxville. She isn’t listed now, maybe she transferred back out or left the team?

Friends crowd around senior Devin Davis after she signs her National Letter of Intent to the University of Tennessee.

Davis says she found a sense of community and belonging on her very first unofficial visit to UT. Ever since, she has wanted to pursue soccer there.

“Everyone I have met welcomed me with open arms. Anyone can see how much of a family it is,” said Davis.

Soccer has been a large part of Davis’ life since the age of four when she first started. She says signing solidified her hard work and love for the sport even further.

“Signing my letter of intent was definitely a bit of a surreal moment and allowed reality to set in,” Davis said.

Davis has large goals for her career in Tennessee. She says she hopes to win an SEC championship during her time there.

“I can’t wait for this next chapter,” Davis said.

Here is a video of Devin Davis scoring two goals in one game in High School.
Looks like a great striker.

UT Puts Record 136 On First-Year SEC Honor Roll

IMG_9147.jpeg
The University of Tennessee placed 136 student-athletes on the 2023-24 First-Year Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll that was announced Wednesday by SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey.

That total was the most UT has ever had on the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll. It marked an improvement of 22 over the previous record of 114 who made the list in 2022-23.

Furthermore, that tally raised Tennessee's total number of student-athletes recognized in 2023-24 to a program-record 448 combined on the Fall, Winter, Spring and First-Year SEC Academic Honor Rolls. That's an improvement of 46 over last year and marks the ninth-consecutive year that Tennessee has seen an increased total number of student-athletes on SEC Honor Rolls.

On the 2023-24 First-Year SEC Honor Roll, men's track & field led the way for Tennessee with 32 student-athletes recognized, followed by women's track & field with 28 and baseball with 25. Other programs and their numbers of recipients include soccer (8), men's basketball (7), women's swimming & diving (7), softball (5), rowing (4), men's tennis (4), volleyball (4), women's basketball (3), football (2), men's swimming & diving (2), women's tennis (2), women's golf (2) and men's golf (1).

A total of 1,459 student-athletes from around the league were named to the 2023-24 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll, which is based on grades from the 2023-24 academic calendar.

Any student‐athlete who participates in a Southeastern Conference championship sport or a student‐athlete who participates in a sport listed on his/her institution's NCAA Sports Sponsorship Form is eligible for nomination to the Academic Honor Roll.

The criteria below will be followed:

(1) A student‐athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or above for either the preceding academic year (two semesters or three quarters) or have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution.

(2) If a student‐athlete attends summer school, his/her grade point average during the summer academic term must be included in the calculation used to determine eligibility for the Academic Honor Roll.

(3) Student‐athletes eligible for the Honor Roll include those receiving an athletics scholarship, recipients of an athletics award (i.e., letter winner), and non-scholarship student‐athletes who have been on a varsity team for two seasons.

(4) Prior to being nominated, a student‐athlete must have successfully completed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours of non‐remedial academic credit toward a baccalaureate degree at the nominating institution.

(5) The student‐athlete must have been a member of a varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.

First-year student‐athletes in all sports may be named to the Honor Roll at the conclusion of their first full academic year in residence (spring, fall and summer terms).

Ally Zazzara is the only person to ever wear 35 for the Lady Vols.
She wore 35 in 2021(Redshirt year) & 2022 before switching to her current kit number which we will cover later in the countdown.
So she gets the honor of being in the countdown twice.

Here is a nice video covering Ally and the other goalkeepers back in 2022. Gives us a peek into why she chose that position and other interesting info.

The two years she wore #35 jersey.

Good luck to all the Lady Vols playing for Tennessee SC in the W League National Semifinals on Saturday.

NC COURAGE U23 VS. TENNESSEE SC

Venue: WakeMed Soccer Park, Field #2, Cary, NC
Kickoff: Saturday, July 13, 6 p.m. ET
Stream: SportsEngine Play
Eastern Conference champions NC Courage U23 will host Southern Conference champions Tennessee SC at WakeMed Park on Saturday.
The Courage are the only remaining playoff team with National Semifinal experience, as the team won its second consecutive Eastern Conference title last weekend. They are looking to return to the final and get redemption after falling in last season’s championship match.
In the first two rounds, the Courage looked unstoppable. They shut out expansion side Lancaster Inferno 4-0 before defeating the Long Island Rough Riders 3-0. Their opposition seldom entered the Courage’s half, which was held down by centerbacks Kayleigh Herr and Taylor Chism. On the offensive side, Tennessee will have to look out for Ivy Garner and Hannah Jibril, who recorded goals in both matches.
Tennessee SC has battled to make its first National Semifinal appearance, coming off two 1-0 victories over AHFC Royals and Asheville City SC. The team was without a few of its key players from the regular season, but the group still dug deep to pull out the two wins.
Ryanne Molenaar and Keaton Mitchell scored the lone goals in each game; Molenaar made a run inside the box before slipping the ball far post, while Mitchell blasted a free kick from around 30 yards out. Bailie Fiore might be the biggest obstacle for the Courage’s strikers since the goalkeeper made multiple incredible saves to preserve both shutouts.
