Samuelson being ranked #1 by any recruiting service ahead of Durr is laughable at best. She isn't better than Cooper, either, and probably not Collier.

I may be a homer but I'm not this delusional. I would take her in a second over any incoming recruit we have. I suggest you google her & see not only what she has done but what 'objective' writers are saying about her.

If she came to the LV's it would have been a major game changer.

Hoping Tyler will be in Knoxville by 2016 or 2017!

So let's say Holly gets us to the Final Four and wins a couple of championships...you still want Tyler here?

I don't think he will, but what if Tyler fails miserably at Louisiana Tech and gets fired.

Both are moot points, because Holly isn't going anywhere.

The Vols need a sharp coach--someone on the younger side but with experience. Holly is too old and has too much of an assistant's mentality. That's what she's always been--an assistant. She doesn't have the mentality to lead us back to the top--have you seen and listened to her after games? She doesn't have the brass or the smarts. We're getting routed in the first half by Maryland and she doesn't call a time out--which is something almost every coach in American would have done and should have done. But she didn't. Asked after the game why she didn't call a TO, she said: "I just didn't think we needed to." Yikes!

Tyler Summitt has virtually no experience--and anybody who thinks that he's going to revive the program just because of his name is dreaming. The game passed by PS at least 10 years ago. It's not about your name--it's about your coaching talent and your basketball IQ. If TS proves he's got that in 8 years and not 2, then I'm sure he'll be considered. I have great respect for PS but I also think we've got to quit with the Cult of Summitt. Whether the diehards want to acknowledge it or not, that era is ov-ah. The program needs new blood. Trying to hang onto past glories by hanging onto Summitt people will only make our current situation worse.

Armchair, everyone who reads or posts on Volnation knows of your vendetta and degrading remarks about Pat Summitt and the game passing her by at least ten years ago. Just for the record, during Pat's last ten years, the Lady Vols went 249-38 (winning percentage of .867) with two national championships, two runner up finishes and one third place finish. The game never passed her by.She was a better coach while battling illness than 95 percent or more of other coaches.Yes,I admire her and her competitiveness, and I think most readers and posters on here agree and would go for that ten year record over the next ten years. So, Armchair, give it a rest. Pat is gone and we are all the worse for it.

Absolutely absurd comments about Pat Summit. To say the game passed her by 10 years ago is just an absurd comment. Basketball is about dribbling, passing, shooting, defending, stealing, and rebounding. Simple game. Those who execute the fundamentals best tend to win. You think Luigi is winning because he's some basketball rocket scientist? B.S. It's because his teams execute the fundamentals better than anyone, gets great players, and understands the psychology of the game. Same as Pat always did.

It actually started going down hill in 2009. We had won back to back titles in 2007 and 2008. The major problem with the next four years were a lot of players playing out of position and injuries. That group of six freshmen never grew up and as a result they ended up being one of the worst classes Coach Summit ever had. After she became ill recruiting took a hit some players that were planning on coming here changed their minds. Last years team had talent but certainly had some flaws. None were good passers and were very inconsistent in their shooting.
I see this coming season as the return of Lady Vol basketball. We are rated number three in the pre-season and for good reason. We have Russell the number one player with a year of experience in the league under her belt and an off season where she could develop into the player everyone expected her to be. Her major problem last season was physical strength hoping to see this has improved dramatically. If all the question marks are answered namely Tucker is healthy and Massengale returns this will
be Holly's most talented team by far. If she can't get us to the final four this season will be a huge disappointment much larger than this past season. This team has a lot of shooters and they are consistent. I look forward to the season it will ultimately be the judge of whether Holly can make it as a Head Coach. This team is loaded no excuses for us not making the final four this season.

How a parent would want their child to play and be mentored by that creep and/or coach cal blows my mind.. Parents with $$$ in their eyes I guess.. Wouldn't let those snakes anywhere around my kids.
Thats not a very nice thing to say about anybody. Geno is a leader, mentor, a personal growth builder and a great husband and father.

How can you sit here and post remarks knocking Pat. She was in an era when WCBB wasn't on the map. She helped put it on the map. She was Tenn WBB and the LVs. She has a disease now and some fans are knocking her. Leave her alone. She made her mark and put WCBB and the LVs on the map . Before her Len Baramore and Jody Condrat and now there is Geno Muffit Jeff Tara and a few more coming up. Respect them for what they're doing and pioneering the new parity in WCBB. If you are WCBB fan respect the sport and all of those who put it on the map and continue to make it an All American Sport. You may have your reasons for not like Pat or Geno or anyother coach but for the sake of the sport respect them because they are building the sport for all of us. God Bless

If anyone remembers the old Jerry Clower story about Marcell Ledbetter and the Watermelon... well, Tyler is Marcell and LaTech is the other watermelon under the bed at home.

Tyler chose the LaTech position to prove (maybe to himself, as well) that he could re-build a fallen, top-tier program.

The best storybook ending (for Tennessee) would be for the Lady Techsters to make a couple of earned, Elite-8 appearances, and Holly make a Final Four appearance and the Championship Game once before retiring.

The worst case would be a graph with two intersecting lines: the Lady Techsters line ascending and the Lady Vols descending. Those graph lines wouldn't be based on hard data, but a mixture of public perception, revenue, and pressure from boosters for a change.

Of course, it's the timing of a pressured call for a coaching change that's always so crucial. What if the call comes when Tyler isn't ready to leave, insisting he hasn't completed his task at LaTech? He might be young enough and principled enough to actually keep his commitments. Would Tyler Summitt be willing to make the "Kiffin dream job" speech from an empty hangar at Monroe Regional Airport, while mattresses smolder over in Ruston? And does anyone think Holly's loyalty to his Mom wouldn't be matched by Tyler's to 'Aunt' Holly? Remember, Tyler is only one generation removed from the farm--he still understands loyalty is more than a sentiment or a PR catchphrase.

I still believe the development to watch for the future is on the recruiting trail. Watch for whenever Tyler and Holly go after the same player. If Tyler/Micki win one of those, especially given the mismatch of facilities in Ruston vs. Knoxville... that's when the storybook plot gets serious.
