#1 Class in Recruiting In the Nation!!!

Our new coaches are either make or break...we all know this. One bad class will not be the downfall of Tennessee football. Our coaches need to turn these sub-par recruits into dominant SEC football players. We still have some amazing talent on our team for at least 2 more yrs. Next year Clawson and Drayton will have to step up the recruiting...along with Fatty Fatty Phil.
imo chavis needs to get off his fatty fatty a$$ right now and start on the 2009 class...if he's going to stay around

Our biggest rival is not Florida, or Alabama, or Georgia, but the stinkin' national media! Our second biggest rival is our own "fans!" IMO, the stories about "trouble on 'ol Rocky top" serve only to amplify the perception of a weakening program, this after what I see as a successful (albeit simultaneously humbling) '07 campaign.

The perception is that CPF is losing his touch and that the success of '06 and '07 are completely due to CDC, who has now left to work his magic at Duke. Of course a 17 or 18 year old recruit is going to believe Coach Satan, er, Saban, that UT's future is bleek -even though they were only able to eek out a meidocre 6-6 record. Kids, 6-6 s ONE WIN better than 5-6!!
We will beat (TSOO) Bama here next fall, and in 3 years they will probably have lost 1/3 of this "#1" recruting class to attrition, as well as one head coach to the highest bidder.Fulmer loves his school. In that regard he is unique among SEC coaches (and seemingly among many of you "fans" also). This program will be fine. Do your job. Fill the seats. Travel. Cheer. Turn down the volume on EPSN/ABC/CBS and turn up the Vol Network. Quit whining. Support the tradition of UT football. Be thankful you have UT football.

Be thankful you only have one team on the list, too.

Well said, well spoken.. While you're making out your wish list don't forget "World Peace". :clapping:

I think Fulmer's gone in 4 years after he breaks Neyland's record for most wins as a HC at UT. Fulmer's successor is going to have his hands full. After Crompton's class graduates, it's going to dark times for the vol faithful I'm afraid.

Dark times after Crompton's class? We will still have the players from last years class. And you are already convinced that the new coaches will suck huh? Way to judge their performance before they have even done anything yet.

I think he's ref'ing the 3 down years out of 5 that we've had. One class will not provide the neccessary depth required for the SEC.

Give the New Coaches a chance. They might surprise everyone. Lets wait until next year to decide if they suck. We have great talent at UT right now and if the New coaches can recruit they need to get to it right now for 09.

What you say makes perfect sense but it is hard for me to think the program is headed in the right direction until I see it happen on the field. Some changes were made and the new guys desreve a chance to show what they can do, but they are still bucking a nine-year trend and the same guy is still in charge of the show.

That is really the bottom line.

And what happens if they win it all in the next 2-3 seasons?

Will you give props to CPF and staff?

I remain hopeful that if we lay a giant egg against Fla and Bama again next year that there will not be a 2-3 season option!

Give these new coaches time next year we will probably have a top 15 class everyone relax

I aggree I think next year will be better, Everyone will be on their high horse recuriting and I think we will be in the top 10. UT just had to much side issues going on and scared everyone away this year. (Cut leaving, players being arrested)

the truth is that we have been trending downward since 99. Please dont talk about the blind pig way we fell into the SEC championship as proof we're back.

After 98 we had nowhere to go but down. I do agree with you though that we have backslided far enough now! Next year should be the determining season although I think the new staff will buy him another year or two.

It's okay. Let everybody have their "5*", parade all american athletes. We'll just have to kick all their a$$es! :furious3:

Sometimes 5 * guys come in with a "nothing to prove" attitude and don't get any better. Some 3* guys come in hungry and work their butt off and become all conference players. I'm excited about the talent we did bring in. I'm disappointed about the small number of players signed. I'm encouraged by the new blood brought on board and hope that they are great recruiters. Something tells me that Latrell Scott will be a great recruiter when it's all said and done.

Who said anything about being "back?" Back where? In the national title hunt? In case you haven't noticed, it goes through ATL, which is where we lost to the eventual national champion-and not by much, at that. Where was ESPN fav Georgia? Where were your Florida Gators? I'd rather be competing for the SEC championship than sitting at home. Blind pig or no blind pig. At least we were there (and by the way, it was a freaking blast, loss and all).

Rex, you entirely missed my point. The best part about being a college football fan is not contending for a championship every year (Ohio State Bills- er- Buckeyes), but busting your butt, rearranging your work schedule, making it to the games and pulling for your team. That's all you can do to support your team.

Maybe you wouldn't stumble so much if you took it easy on the wide-mouths!

By the way, my second grade son wants you to know that you capitalize at the beginning of the sentence and put ONE period at the end (or three if you want to imply a hanging thought).

Yep, good post... spoken like a true fan. But be carefull, we rode that "gotta have a 'Bama man' as coach" bus to darn near oblivion.

I'm not a fan of the #1 ranking. It hurts recruiting for the next year. Plus, I am a believer that it is never as good, or bad, as it seems at the time. Most of the SEC fans that I know have laughed at the #36 ranking but I don't believe it for a minute. It looks to me like some of those boys can play.
