I love that people are whining about Cal's connections and the unfairness of it all. Scott Drew hired one of the Clifton brothers to get John Wall. Pitino hired one of Teague's coach/advisors to a position he essentially created. The bottom line is that Cal has run off an unprecedented string of 30 win seasons, put the best rookie into the league the last two seasons, playing basketball at Kentucky is arguably the best gig in college sports, and John is so much more media and marketing shrewd than his competitors it's not funny. Kentucky is the program of the moment in recruiting and it's not close. It's not Cal's fault he is associated with the most powerful force in hoops today and the best his competitors can do is latch on to B listers like Larry Marshall and the Pump Brothers.
It exposes the Pearlophiles for what they are: jealous, whiny hypocrites.
Well, its official, Teague IS A CAT. Moving on....
As for Cal, I'm no blind blue goggled follower. I have the same reservations, and the same dark thoughts that conjure up all sorts of theories and ideas, some of which are probably true. I'm not of the belief that Cal is 100% pure, nor will I ever be.
However, while I don't let the guy completely off the hook, I do believe many people (critics and rival fans) help turn this into a frantic case of "perception is fact". Cal is obviously a politician, who is able to recruit people into his corner and his "brand". The whole thing with Lebron makes perfect sense. Placing 4 straight point guards in the lottery after one season is quite the reason to spurn Little Ricky and play for Cal.
The whole notion that families are getting bentley's and $$$ is changing hands right and left, is ridiculous. Is there something going on somewhere that has some fringe benefits, perhaps and probably so.
I can't control it, and as a fan all I can do is ride the ship and hope to hell it doesn't sink.
Speaking of hyprocrisy, this is from the same person that lamblasts the NCAA at every point and turn for its ineptitude in all aspects of governing the bodies it represents.Violations the 'AA specifically exonerated him of any involvement of in both situations.
The 'AA, as utterly incompetent as they are, decide who the "cheaters" in college athletics are. They've now twice specifically decided not to label Cal as such. Thus, the Bruce Pearl Hallelujah Choir portion of our fan base looks like the pouty little crybabies they are when they keep beating that drum.Speaking of hyprocrisy, this is from the same person that lamblasts the NCAA at every point and turn for its ineptitude in all aspects of governing the bodies it represents.
The NCAA was right to exonerate Calipari or just inept in its findings to pin anything on him? Make up your mind.
The world isn't black and white, but come on. Looks like a duck, talks like a duck, swims like a duck, then...
Not part of that crowd. Pick one: Decided not to label him a cheater or couldn't find enough due to incompetence? The 'AA, as utterly incompetent as they are, decide who the "cheaters" in college atheltics are. No, it's not. Considering Cal wasn't even mentioned in the allegations at UMASS or Memphis, not sure what the 'AA's lack of competence has to do with anything. Not part of that crowd. Pick one: Decided not to label him a cheater or couldn't find enough due to incompetence?
At this point it's one or the other.
