1 second left and you don't offer any defense?

She shot a brick that somehow went in. Definitely put somebody on the ball; but I'd let my chances ride on THAT girl taking THAT shot 100 times out of 100, and I'd win at least 98 of them. Sorry to be repetitive, but she missed the shot by almost 3 feet. Kelly may have made a dozen coaching blunders down the stretch, but letting THAT girl have an unguarded 3 wasn't one of them.

She makes those shots in practice everyday. Dawn would like for her to shoot 3's in games and said so in her press conference.

Not a regular on this page at all. But I did just watch the last shot. I have no problem with how it unfolded. You have to guard the whole court as a 2 sends you to an overtime loss. So you can make a case to bait them into making their inside player, who hasn’t made a three all year, take the final shot from deep. The made shot was just pure luck. Banked it in from straight on. Equivalent to making a half court heave. Just a fluke that happens now and then.

Key cost us the game on that play. Her lack of basketball IQ compounded by the total ineptitude of our coaches was truly embarrassing.

Send them all packing.
I have had the impression all year that Key just didn't give a sh--.I have not seen her hustle at any point. Now, if it is part of her health issue, then she should have been red shirted. In the interview Kellie said she didn't call timeout because SC didn't have one. As if to say she didn't want to let them have the time to set up a play. She didn't call anyone out. But she implied players should understand that in that situation any and everyone is a shooter and should not be left unguarded.

Kellie should’ve just put TK on the inbounded bc no way Raven gets that pass over her. Raven was going to have to bounce pass which would’ve killed time on the clock and made everyone run out to guard. the defensive plan just wasn’t smart at all.

That 1st quarter was just UGLY. Amazed that the LV team came back, even to the point of having the lead with 1.1 seconds remaining.
Yes and sometimes a timeout is for such a coaching moment
JP's missed foul shots didn't do the damage that letting that shiggitty play/shooting/missed bunnies; continue in Q1 without trying to do something to stop it...Time Out,,," ok ladies lets talk about the crap you are leaving on the court right now,,,Doesn't it matter to you,,Now, here's whats gonna change.,,,"

If I could give consult to Kellie it would be to
Don't start throwing subs in to look for the answer to finding a change,,,Sub with purpose.
And use your timeouts both before they are needed and when they are needed

You know
This team has one very missing item that few have addressed on VolNation....
It has no defined 6th man
Our off the bench-stopper,,,the Glove...the closer,,,the microwave,,no sixth man

Kellie was directing traffic and told TK to stay by the rim. She did what she was told, but at the same time the players need the freedom to deviate from the coaching plan if they can see that it has flaws.

Maybe I missed something. I'm the opposite of a Kelly defender, but, as I understand it, a girl who had never made a 3 BANKED in a 3, and we're blaming the defensive philosophy. That was a deal-with-the-devil kind of play.

This.. people just need someone to blame

A foul to give was not used to take time off the clock (3.7 seconds left)

using that foul to give upon reception of the ball and fouling her before she showed a shot motion,,,would have forced SC to make a second throw in with as much as half of the 3.7 seconds they had to give it to Cordoso

that is more than just a "big hitting a 3 for a game winner"

I take nothing away from the game,,,those kids fought like heck,,,but I am a coach and I look at what I was thinking at the time and what happens at that same time...I was yelling "foul to give" so loud my neighbor went out and smacked the cart-lady to shut me up

And should have deviated. Looking at it again, Rickea couldn't have gotten there, but making a run at it would have look better. The key was Kamilla stopping before she got into the paint. If Dawn called that, genius move and effing great good luck she hit the shot.

What? Jewel DID give that foul and it turned out to be devastating bad luck. Fulwiley was paniced, probably bc she knew she double dribbled, was about to throw up a 3/4 court heave, but Jewel had no way of knowing that. That's why there was 1.1 on the clock, and most importantly, the ball got advanced. Sara was actually trying to give the last foul to give when the last shot went up. Irony upon irony, that foul was not called on us.

I have looked at that play over and over. Not sure why Jackson is moving to cover Raven not sure what she was thinking makes no sense, There is only 1.1 on the clock there is time for Cardoso or anyone on SC to pass again. At the end of the day to me both coaches made bad decisions in this game. Dawn was out coached by Kellie after blowing that big lead and not playing Tessa Johnson more.

She didn’t set up a defense. Couple of timeouts. See Rickea and TK standing in no-man’s land. Use a TO. Such a disappointment. Maybe this is CP3’s last year and they can steal her away from commentating. When Dawn started coaching she was still in the W. That might give her a big advantage with recruiting. Problem is I dont see her moving her family to Tennessee given its current climate.
Sounds like a great idea. No coaching experience and let's steal her away from commentating. See what happened to Tina Thompson at Virginia. Former pro and Olympian? Fired....You sound brilliant

It absolutely is about probability. Because if you knew she was going to make a 3, you would have fouled and made her make 2 FT’s to force overtime (which is stupid). That was about a 10% chance of going in, and we got unlucky. Anyone who knows basketball realizes that.

You can leave her wide open early on in the game. Why in the hell would you wanna leave ANY player wide open with the game on the line when they’re taking a game winning shot? Anybody who doesn’t see that doesn’t know basketball.

You see Dawn on the sideline point to Kamilla to move in towards the FT line and then Paopao as if to say “find a way to get to her”. Then she tells Kamilla to move to the top of the key, probably realizing that she only had time for a catch and shoot and saw no one guarding her. Good acknowledgment to give them the only possible chance to win, but probably not the first, second or third option if given a choice 😂

Jackson is standing right there no need to even move in Raven direction none but she did.
