10-2: I don’t see 3 losses on this schedule

I was thinking 8-9 wins before the season started.
I predicted 9. I thought UF would be better than they are and that LSU was talented enough to be a big question mark. I didn't think UT had the talent to do more than compete with UGA or Bama. Even as high as I am on Heupel, I underestimated him.

In August there were probably a majority of us counting 9-3 as a satisfactory/good year and looking forward to it.

I've never written the word aghast before in my life (old). But, 12-0 is realistic and I am aghast!

Welcome back CT ! ! !

GO SMOKEY ELEVEN ! ! !

GO VOLS ! !

Man, love reading back through this thread, OP.

I've never understood why people never go big with their predictions. I was initially at 9-3 just trying not to let my heart get in the way, but never scoffed at anyone who thought 10-2 or even 11-1 Who cares? Be wrong. BUT, if you're right?? Sit back and watch everyone come crawling back with their but but but's and well actually's.....

Some of y’all gonna be real disappointed if we go 8-4 or 7-5 which is a real possibility. We could easily lose to Pitt, Florida, Kentucky and South Carolina along with a probable loss to LSU and and definite losses to Georgia and Bama. Pump the brakes and temper your expectations because 10-2 isn’t happening. I would be estatic with 9-3, pleased with 8-4. Disappointed with 7-5 unless we have alot of injuries. 6-6 would leave me questioning if Heupel is the guy long term for us.

Not so fast my friend!

That‘s what I had - I figured we weren’t ready talent wise for Bama and Georgia and thought we would drop one of the road games (Pitt, LSU or South Carolina). But this staff has made significant improvements in performance by actually coaching and nurturing a team chemistry where everyone is excited to be playing and giving their all. Amazing what great leadership can do. I think we’ve chatted before about changing organizational culture and the difficulties involved; Heupel has proven to be a master at that task.

Pretty insane. I was thinking 8-9 wins in Heupel’s second year would be great progress. Didn’t see this coming. Enjoy the ride, we’ve sure waited long enough.
