Thats kinda the catch. The numbers I have seen, only reflect those drawing a check. Some say, it is closer to 17%.

I take it you are no longer serving, due to your ailment?
If so, sorry to hear that, hope things turn around for you bro.:hi:

Reaching on both sides. This unemployment has little to do with Bush policies or Obama policies. Stop searching only for a reason that will allow you to point a finger at the side you most despise and start doing a little research.

Obama has been POTUS for over 11 months now, he owns this high unemployment. When Bush left office the rate was about 6% or so. When this idiot was arguing for the stimulus, he said "if we do nothing unemployment could reach 8%" Companies are scared to hire due to his anti-capitalist policies. Bush can no longer be blamed for everything that goes wrong in America.

You're probably right, but the Soviet style stimulus package was supposed to preclude this. Maybe some research on this piece would help you.

i promise you if a $1 trillion had actually been spent on directly saving american jobs that the unemployment rate wouldn't be this high. that isn't to say i support spending $1 trillion on saving american jobs.

What I hate is the fact that that a very small percentage of the money in this bill has been put into the system thus far. Not because I think or thought it was a good idea but what good is a stimulus bill that doesn't stimulate?

What is this money geared for, does anyone really know?

The dems wanted this bill so they could repay left wing groups for their support for them.

I think they spent all their money on the 'Your Tax Dollars at Work' signs. Unfortunately they have no money left to warrant the use of those signs since they had to pay off all their special interest buddies.

Nothing more than empty political rhetoric. Politicians often take credit or promise things they have little control over -- and you know to see through it immediately. Acting surprised or if it's simply one party doing this is disingenuous.

The President elect (Dem or Repub) this term would have come in with spending solutions for unemployment/recovery -- and most all would have failed. Gov't spending on some scale was necessary, but looking at long-term solutions seems to be something they all fail to do now.

Thanks for reinforcing my point.

Yes but did Obama not campaign on the platform he was going to be the guy to change all of that? I know every candidate makes a few pledges, but Obama went way above and beyond the normal campaign rhetoric trying to convince America he was the guy that was going to stop the influential lobbyist, make Washington transparent....I could go on and on. He set himself way above and beyond the average candidate in making empty promises.

Conservatives and republicans knew better, they tried to tell the left they were buying a campaign slogan and empty rhetoric based nowhere near reality. He deserves the criticism here much more so than any recent president because this was the only platform he had to run on, he had no record of public service to stand on.

The fact that most politicians are full of manure doesn't excuse them for being so, and it's my money and prosperity that they are playing fast and loose with. This is America, where we still reserve the right to call out politicians that lie and spend tax money to repay political favors. We used to tar and feather them and run them out on a rail...

I don't disagree with this at all - and let's be clear that this admin has made numerous questionable decisions. My point deals with partisan bickering on the board - those that act as though their party is somehow immune to the problems we face today.
